Self Tie (attached video)
Added 2023-01-11 12:21:20 +0000 UTCA while back I experimented with filming a moment with myself and my rope. It was an interesting experience, to be filmed during that time with myself, and letting someone capture such an intimate moment.
Personally, self tying has become a therapeutic process and a grounding and calming mechanism, much like yoga is for some. In reality, the intense breath work that each practice requires are the same. And can provide similar benefits.
I noticed with this first experiment that my ability to fully connect with myself was lost. The watchful eyes of the photographer and their lens became my audience and the self tie morphed into a sort of performance. The moment was no longer just for me. This is not a negative thing particularly, just a reflection.
I will definitely be continuing to explore self tying more and different ways of capturing special moments,
