An Update on My Situation

Hello, my lovelies!

It occurred to me that a lot of people might have noticed that the West Coast is on fire, and might be wondering if I've been caught in the midst of that.

To make a long story short, I'm doing okay!

Basically, I'm not in the fire's path, though our air quality has been off-the-charts bad (luckily, we have an AC unit to filter air a little, or I'd be seriously worried about our long-term health). The smoke, and lack of clear sunlight, is stressful, and it's hard to go a whole day without seeing blue sky or even just proper gray clouds, but my area is deep enough in that we aren't likely to be put on notice for evacuation.

Really, I'm just waiting to see the sky again. In the meantime, it's hard to get a lot done, but I've been writing the last few days at a steady pace, so that's good! I'm happier when I'm getting work done.

Basically, I am safe and well. My Patreon is my sole income now, having finished university, and it's keeping up okay with expenses for the time being, which is very good. This might just be my long-term full-time job now.

I'm very lucky and very grateful to all of you who make my workflow possible to maintain. As always, thank you so much!

While I hate to get political on here, when Biden is hopefully elected in November, it's going to be our job to remember what the Clinton, Bush, Obama and Trump administrations have enabled and fight like heck to force our government into action. I cannot stress enough that Biden won't do it if we don't fill the streets and make some trouble. They could have done it in 2009. They could have done it in the 1990s. It never should have gotten this far.

I would like this summer's fires to remain the worst in Oregon history for a long, long time. I don't know if that's likely, but it's not going to get better unless we care a whole awful lot about making it better. Taking five minutes to cast a ballot is only the beginning.

We're going to make it through this.
