In which Alrek gets in a fight, gets injured, and seeks medical care—and discovers how difficult it can be to withstand the condescending sweetness of a pretty nurse with a soft voice.

Hello, my lovelies! Yep, it's another two-parter. I just couldn't help myself.

And trust me, I know this month seems like it's been quiet, but it hasn't. I have several D&Dazes transcripts on the way, the second chapter of this Bonus Pairing, at least one alt-end and at least one commissioned flashfic on the way for this month that have been essentially finished and just need to be edited. If I'm able, we'll also be getting this month's Demon Prince v. Nymph Bonus Pairing and another commissioned flashfic, but we'll see where the week takes me!

Basically, there's a lot on the way—I just haven't been able to post it as so much a steady stream as a dammed canal. The dam is now beginning to burst. ;P

Speaking of slow burns, this was a really fun chapter to write, but it's sadly mostly character/setup. The real fun will be in Chapter Two! I hope you like Larya/Alrek banter and lowkey worldbuilding.

I've noticed that my chapters have gotten a lot longer lately, on average. Same goes for the Alternate Endings, many of which are nearly half-chapters on their own! I may be veering more towards an "expect 3-4 chapters a month, plus bonus content" guarantee going forward, but the overall wordcount-per-month will remain largely the same as ever—perpetually both too darn high and not nearly high enough!

I also think part of the problem has been the lack of big series. Series are easier to write because I don't need to do outlines and I can write multiple chapters in one sitting. So once we're back to Intrepid Pawns, I do expect writing rates to increase. We're almost there! <3
