So here I used an asset in the room I built (in this case a hot tub) and used its outer edge as the foreground and also used the environment in the background. I set the angle in 3DX based on the camera angle I set in DAZ. I paid attention to the lighting in 3DX and made adjustments on the character in DAZ. I feel I got a good result. Creating anything where this character is totally interactive with the 3DX environment seems improbable. Direct interaction with a table, chair, sofa or bed would be implausible without some pretty intense angle work to hide that the character is not in the actual environment. I will test some more. However, the great news is that assets i make in 3DX can be used as fore/background items. I feel both the lantern and the lounge backer look natural with the character, meaning that I will have a greater ability to make unique, though simple, assets for the work I do.
