Wish I could tell you! I haven't played Ys VIII at all, and have very little experience with the rest of the series.

Unfortunately we couldn't include everyone's questions this week, and the two that you asked we have fielded in one form or another before, but I'll answer them for you here. I have played Ocarina of Time more times from beginning to end than any other game by a factor of at least 10 times. It absolutely blew my fetching mind when I was a kid, but it no longer holds any surprises for me. I kind of ruined it for myself by playing it so much, but it just doesn't hold any mystery or wonder for me anymore. I would LOVE for Xenogears to be remade with the proper care and resources!

How do you feel about Square Prioritizing KH3 and other projects over giving FFVIIR proper news? Nomura came out in Dengeki this week stating that the reason we aren't seeing anything is because Square wants other projects in light and it's not because the game is having development issues

I have dealt with this recently with with some of my favorite games and decided I wanted to ask. Are there games that when younger you were exceptionally fond of and still are but going back and playing them is tough for. Like you lose that sense of wonder and mystery that you once had with it and replaying it just feels more like a chore than enjoyable? A second question would be that with how much better Japanese games and RPG's are doing are there any series or games that are long dead that you would like to see a Remake or Rerelease of for current gen?

Suppose a game writer comes to you with a dilemma - they're trying to write a game plot that does NOT end with the fate of the entire world hanging in the balance, so that the story feels grounded and relatable, but they have no idea how else to raise the stakes for the last act. How do you write a game plot that feels like it builds to a huge climax without relying on, say, an invading army from the moon?

As I’ve gotten older, the evolution of battle systems away from the older, slower, ATB / Turn-based systems has almost solely kept me interested in RPGs. I can still play the classics but modern RPGs like Bravely Default or Xenoblade Chronicles hold my interest more because of the difference in the battle system. I prefer something with a faster pace (enjoyed FFX-2 more than FFX for this reason) or some strategy element like storing attacks or fully controlling a single character (Xenoblade / Star Ocean). I feel the battle system and progression is really central - I’ve had a hard time getting through RPGs with decent stories that had slow and dated battle systems, while on the other hand, I’ve enjoyed some with ho-hum stories that had a really decent battle system/level progression system (I put Bravely Default here). If it hasn’t been asked yet, what do you think of RPG battle systems, where they are headed, and what elements over the years have kept you from feeling fatigue at hitting the same buttons over and over?

So im currently playing through golden sun the lost age, and there is a section in the game were you get a boat, and the game essentially goes "Alright, here is some vague goals that u have to figure out, go explore this giant sea and find stuff." Its extremely open ended, you can do all sorts of stuff in whatever order you want. Golden Sun is no stranger to this, in the third game a similar thing happens near the end, and even in the first game, there is some degree of choice as to what you do in what order. This got me thinking about the zones vs open world video you made a bit ago mike, and I was wondering, what do you think of this idea? Having not all of the game, but just parts of it (in this case the middle act) be open worldish? Just some large overarching goals and you have to put the pieces together to figure out the path forward. Some pros include more freedom of exploration, while some cons include lack of story dialogue for a while, and when it does happen, it tends to be lots of it. I think this could be an interesting way for linear stories to still have more exploration focus. Also VOTE FOR GOLDEN SUN PATREONS.

With the arrive of Ys VIII on switch I wanted to know more about the series and if it is worth playing.

You guys do a great job analyzing games and making your in depth reviews and other videos. My question is, if given the opportunity, what kind of game would you make? What’s a general story idea you’ve had churning in your head?I’m sure this question has been asked before but I give you this stipulation. It CANNOT be a traditional turn based RPG, it has to be a game in another genre. Maybe a fighting game or a platformer? Can’t wait to hear your thoughts. Keep up the great work

hi guys, i have a question, is it possible that Nintendo would leave the console market, and just focus on making games (i know this subjet has been brought up many times), because it makes more financial sense? (i mean games for ios and Android is the first step)
