2025-05-01 04:48:38 +0000 UTC#SundayRundown Wish I had saved or could re-find a viral twitter thread that showed a typically poor clip from this, in which one of the main bts people (I don't remember whether producer, writer, or some other position) made replies under that suggest some serious production trouble, which shortened the schedule and had the team scrambling to salvage what's left (I personally suspect it has something to do with having to belatedly filming for 3D). He also explained that this was planned to be the final entry, per the title, but the result is so unsatisfying that they were grateful for a chance for fix it for the next one.

2025-04-29 08:54:58 +0000 UTCIf you ever have a successful franchise with all the sequel titles perfectly numbered, donโt ever try to give one a gimmicky/different title, even if itโs intended to be the last one. Because you never know when that franchise will get a sequel/reboot/remake in the future making that โlastโ look dumb. Look at Saw: The Final Chapter, the 7th in the franchise and then 3 movies came after it. Fast and Furious movies did it the opposite way with the 1st โThe Fast and The Furious,โ and the 4th movie is simply โFast & Furious.โ

You can imagine my embarrassment when I found out this was the 4th one, intended to be the last with the only different is adding the word, โTHE.โ Itโs even dumber when they made a Final Destination 5 not too long after that.

2025-04-27 15:34:41 +0000 UTC#SundayRundown Final Destination 4 I marathoned these years ago, and I came up with a bit of a tinfoil hat theory to explain the visions, which I believe have so far never been explained Itโs all Death. The visions arenโt caused by good luck, god, the universe, whatever. The survivors arenโt being allowed to cheat Death and get a second chance, Death isnโt going after them because itโs mad they got away. Death is giving people the visions to get them out of their boring intended ending so it can stretch its sadistic Rube Goldbergian muscles and have some fun. Part of why I think this is because of how few survivors there are after one movie. With a few execeptions, every survivor either dies or is implied to die between movies, in the next movie, or at the end to some new tragedy. Maybe Bloodlines will finally explain the source of the visions and prove me wrong

2025-04-27 00:20:43 +0000 UTCThis is the popular opinion of all the movies. The first sets up the premise in a fun way. The second one builds on the first one and adds in some cool dynamics. The third one feels more tired and been there done that. The fourth is even more tired. The fifth feels more engaging on top of the fun new gimmick. I still feel like the movies lose their luster after 2, but 5 was a fun addition. 6 seems more in the vein of 5 where they are adding some new gimmicks to keep it fresh.
