Very nice explanation

Great discussion! If you want to search for HxH-related stuff online go for it but be careful of spoilers since there are a lot 😅 About the Specialist class: while you're correct to assume that some Specialists have "end game" abilities, there are also tons of Specialists that have abilities that are pretty much useless in battle but useful for other things (you'll see a couple of examples in this arc). Essentially, a Specialist is someone that has an ability that's too rare to fit in any of the other categories (gained genetically or product of the environment), regardless of its usefulness in combat. As you said, the percentages chart is very interesting because it shows that any Nen user can learn abilities from any class (with the exception of the Specialist class ofc) but that the full power is reduced by 20% for each adjacent category. As you saw, if a Conjurer can reach 100% mastery in the conjuration class, then he can master 80% of Transmutation and 60% of Enhancement, and so on. This specific chart is very helpful: http://i.imgur.com/pPNaYZO.jpg Also, the anime for some reason didn't include the levels for each category so I'll try to explain it to you. To put it simply, a Nen user starts at level 1 in his own category and when he reaches level 10 (through training) he's considered to be a "master" of that class. That's where the percentages start to make more sense. For example, only an enhancer can reach lvl 10 in enhancement. Once he reaches lvl 10 he has 100% mastery of the enhancement class. However, a Conjurer can only go up to lvl 6 (60% mastery) in the enhancer class. In other words, a Conjurer can at most have 60% mastery of the enhancer class, meaning that he can use enhancement abilities at about half of their original potency (max. 60%), as Kurapika's teacher said. Each level represents 10% of mastery in that class. In order to go from lvl 1 to lvl 2 you need to clear the lvl 1 training for your specific category, and so on, until lvl 10 (the training is different for each category ofc). In the anime they never explain how the levels relate to the percentages like in the manga so it just seems like piecemeal/incomplete information. In fact, they barely even mention the levels :( That's why I wanted to tell you all this while we're at it. Once you reach a certain episode I'll show you a manga panel that will help you a lot to understand a certain thing :) I hope this was useful!
