A lesser story would have proven Makishima to be a hypocrite, a man of empty words simply seeking power (immortality or godhood). But not FUCKING PSYCHOPASS. The fact that Makishima remains consistent in his beliefs that he simply just wants to live as a human being, and absolutely rejects every ounce of this system is by far the more interesting choice in the story.
