You may have seen the announcements, but in case not, I’m touring with my favorite band, Starset! Here's me with the lead singer, Dustin, yesterday, shooting some promo for the tour.

You're probably wondering how it started (a scientist? touring with a rock band?). I can't share all this publicly yet, but I wanted to tell you all. Here's how it started: I befriended Dustin, because I am persistent (also he’s an engineer. Cool.) I texted him one day, “I wanna tour with you guys, I’ll be your professional influencer, I’ll sleep in the closet on the bus, haha roflol,” thinking he'd ignore my absurd message — my messages are usually absurd. He said he’d think on it…. WHAT?! Dustin, go home, you’re crazy.

He came back a week later and said, “What if you toured with us, but as our opener?”

...

I died. Right then. San Diego EMTs had to resuscitate me.

Still didn’t believe it until I saw my name on the tour poster. I’m so FREAKING EXCITED. I hope you join, if for nothing else than to see me fan-girl every night, professionally. But also you can see some EPIC SCIENCE on a rock concert stage. How’s that for a step in the right direction, 2020?!

Moral of the story: think up something insane you wanna do, and ask the person who can make it happen. No guarantees, BUT it’ll certainly never happen if you don’t ask.
