Post-Video Reflection!

I wanted to try something new — a sort of reflection on my latest video to provide you all with some more context and some insight into our the behind the scenes process. SO Levi (my editor) and I sat down to talk about what inspired us to create it, what we learned from it, and how the production process went.
Let me know how you all like this type of video because it was super fun and helpful for us, so I’d love to do it again for future videos!

I totally understand the potential reasons for not wanting to watch this video! I feel them too. And yes, Levi was the one who photoshopped the skateboard photos hahaha.

I'm glad you didn't put it away, as you had some drawbacks and motivational problems of chewing on the same subject all the time. And I think such a review for a normal physics video would even have other perspectives giving an idea about some difficulties that seemed easily done in the final cut. And it was fun how you went further with unrelated things. The 2019 review, for example. And how meta a webcam capture of a phone displaying the photo of a puzzle made from an original photo is. I'm still figuring out who started the mantis shrimp thing between you and Simone, but finally: Yes, I'll watch such post video thoughts again.

2020-05-09 11:28:05 +0000 UTCI have noticed it takes a fair amount of mental energy to organize and write something educational for people. And I also usually forget it quickly afterwards, and then feel remarkably ignorant. Feel almost at a loss. Yet I'm one of the "experts," which certainly doesn't match the feeling. Exercise helps mental focus. (So does some food. 😋) It doesn't surprise me you often forget the content of the past videos you make. 🙂 Maybe it is some mood congruent memory effect. Anyway, I think you do a great job of organizing and presenting the information in the videos you make. Take care. 😋

I admit I haven't watched the original interviews because reasons (working in the field for six weeks at the outset and got really burned out, in brief - message me if you want details). It was fascinating to hear your creative approach (sidebar - was he the one photoshopping you and your skateboard into pictures?) and how you balance your process with peoples' time. I think most scientists or SMEs love talking about their work and would absolutely be willing to meet twice with you. Some of them are very busy, but again, they love to talk about their work (e.g., Sean Carroll at CalTech, Kip Thorne, Matt O'Dowd...) So maybe just ask? ;-)

I work in healthcare, and though not in the front lines work is stressful these days anyway, having to go through the tent even to get in every morning. When I get home I watch videos to escape. This wasn't escape. But it was really well done. A split mind here.

Gives you guys an opportunity to expand on thoughts behind decisions. And me, an opportunity to appreciate the process you go through.
