Willow Hill

Here is a little hamlet that grew out of almost nothing over the last week.... Though, if we go by the ruins of the old settlement on the other side of the river and the general run down and patched up feel of the current buildings, the area around here has been occupied for a very long time.

Don't let the raggedy appearance of the hamlet fool you. It is all protective colouration as it were. Most of the population have townhouses in the capital and commute daily to Willow Hill via the portal at Six Ways Corner. One of the 3 portals at the corner is permanently linked to the Dyers Guild Hall in the Capital for those that have the correct key-token.
The water-weeds hereabouts are edible. More importantly though, if they are dried and processed in a particular way, vivid blue, green, orange and yellow dyes can be extracted. This secret process may or may not involve various moulds collected from the cave on the other side of the river (A dangerous and mucky job that no one likes doing). Extracts from  herbs and nuts both rare and common that are growing in the hilltop gardens and orchards are also used.

Of course, you will create your own stories about Willow Hill
Just remember, whatever you do, don't get stuck in the floating water-weeds, they are not as passive as they appear...

Happy plotting :-)

yay... I am excited to know that It has found a home and people to live in it already :-) Have fun planning ... and let me know how you go with using the cards. One Idea I had was that initially, to only show the sketch map to the players; then, as they visit locations, they get the location cards. When they have visited them all, or enough, they get to see the whole pretty version of the map. Kind of a fog of war thing for a city map. to create a sense of curiosity to explore... if that makes sense? Or they could act as 'keys' to an area. with the card, they have permission to go to that area/building or use the portal. Or just be illustrations for your notes on locations, NPC's and plots :-)

Very lived in, yes, so evocative! Our adventuring group takes a break for the summer months, and early August is when I start planning the upcoming campaign. This looks like a very, very nice home base for the year's adventures. Thank you for following that inspiration!šŸŽˆšŸ‘ (PS the cards are a really fun idea! love the look, will have to noodle on using them...)

Glad you love them Ella I like to make them feel lived in :-)
