This is a *really* good criticism, and I will attempt to take it on board as I write more. Thank you for pointing this out to me, I hadn't really noticed I was doing it.

I really like this story. It's genuinely one of, if not my outright, favorite currently running webnovels. Like if all of my currently favorited novels on RR were to update at the same time, this included, I would drop everything to read TDG first. With that being said there is an issue I've noticed overtime become more and more prevalent. Sometimes a character get's introduced that's kinda opposed to James personality wise and James somewhat writes them off as assholes. Then over time the arc shows them to be people, not cardboard cutout bad guys. Often times people have their own circumstances that are making them behave as standoffish as they have been. When the arc gets resolved and the stress that these people were under get's removed it's shown them to be relatively cool people. If there was a a ratio of cool to asshole at this point it would be 30-70 at intro point then about 65-35 at arc end. Then the next time they get reintroduced the character suddenly the character is slightly more of an asshole than they were at their most stressed point the readers have seen them under and James is fighting against his impulses to write them off. This point the ratio is 30-70 again if not 25-75. Then the last time these characters come back they are just mostly composed of asshole. Ratio of 10-90. For no real reason other than they seem to be able to sense that James and most of the Order has completely written them off. It's super jarring. A couple of character suffered from this. Dave, El managed to swerve back into being a person, Theo and now DeKay got hit by this HARD(DeKay harder obviously but still it's reminiscent of Theo). It's not that big of a problem, but I liked some of these characters so to see them start to behave like a dickhead kinda sucks. DeKay got some foreshadowing but most, if not all, of that was when the focus wasn't on her. We didn't get a chance to see her slowly gain animosity with James and the Order from her perspective to make this feel worth it.
