Yeah people change/grow/evolve over time so people should have the energy to ask questions and be interested in the other person through time as well and not take them for granted or think that if knowing someone as a teen that the person stays the same.
U are right, the really good ones will grow with u and with the best ones it's crazy how no matter how long it has been since last seen them, u feel like no time has passed and it's easy to continue conversation where it was left the last time.

They do, that's if you can find a Christmas market that sells legit one, but it's a lot less spicy and flavourful imho π it's also my go-to beverage for Christmas markets πβοΈπ΅ (even though it's sometimes quite challenging to find a vegan one πͺ)

Heya, long time lurker, first time question asker. Q: is there anything off limits when you are roasting your mates? My friends and I have known each over 25+ years and we go all in, and everything is fair game. New people to the group often are taken aback by the brutality.
Aunt Boris
2023-11-12 00:02:54 +0000 UTC
Definitely. Thatβs classic for some of my family members too. The assumptions about each other are frozen in time from when i was like 15. Sometimes I do think itβs accidental, or subconscious, like βif one of us changes then weβll have nothing to talk about anymore.β π«€ But I think the really good relationships can survive through a lot of change πͺ

Yeah many times the long time friends likes u to stay the same and if one wants to grow and become something different they have a hard time excepting it. In those moments one usually sees the true colors of people too and what purpose u have served to them.

2023-11-11 22:46:38 +0000 UTC
Totally. Like it takes the thoughts out of you and puts them somewhere else. And if some people donβt give a shit, who cares, that can be a good thing! I relate a lot.
I donβt know if you experience this, but sometimes I think the dynamics between longtime friends are better at reinforcing the person you ARE, not necessarily the person youβre growing to be. If that makes any sense at all π

Americans donβt have mulled wine? I only drink it when I am visiting a Christmas market, but I also enjoy preparing it for friends when they come over to decorate the tree, the whole apartment smells amazing

Emy I can relate to that isolating oneself when feeling sad. I do that too when sad, overwhelmed and dealing with a lot. It probably does make it a bit worse like u said, but I also feel like I don't want to burden my friends and family with my issues, since they have enough on their own lives and with rest I just think that nobody really gives a s**t about me or my ordeals π
Then I occasionally overshare on some comments to strangers that doesn't know me or doesn't care π
π€ͺ, but I like having conversations and hearing other people's point of views on things. When dealing with most of the stuff on my own, it sometimes helps when talking about the issues out loud even if no one cares or comments, but it can still shift the thinking etc.

Finally got a chance to watch this update π
It was nice to hear what u have been up to like always π Congrats on ur new computer!
That deep dive video about those 100 artists sounds awesome! That was a lot of work for sure... I can't wait to see the new content and hear more of ur music πΆπ₯°
Collab with ur dad sounds great π It's father's day here tomorrow, so I instantly thought that father/son story or some nice memory that u guys have as a song would probably bring tears 'cos it would just be so sweet π₯² But yeah I hope u make some music together π
I so agree about the being nice to people.. I have a real hard time understanding people who are purposely mean to others or that they are only nice to get something out of it... It doesn't cost a thing to be nice.
Thanks for answering my question π I was thinking that maybe u would have had some crazy dream video, like getting Bruno Mars to jam with u on some Caribbean island or something π
Have a nice weekend π

Heyyy, loving this giddy side of Joel! A collab with your Dad would be the best! I love that you're such a close family even though you're far apart.
I actually have a proper question this week! About actual music. So, I have a broad musicsl taste and I like to get to as many gigs as I can (time, money and babysitters willing! I just missed Norah Jones last week and I wanted to cry!) But Q: what's the best gig you've seen visually?
Eg, so far this year I've seen Darren Hayes, P!nk, Harry Styles, Fat Boy Slim and The Chemical Brothers and the DJ sets background visuals and crowd interaction differ very much from bands/singers. So...P!nk did her acrobatics which, dont get me wrong, was incredible but also a bit...meh, we've seen her do that before. Darren Hayes had a whole theatre-style set up and of course Harry Styles is well known for his stage presence and interaction with his fans but DJ sets have to rely on background visuals a lot more and I have to say Chemical Brothers set was beyond amazing and for that reason it's up there as one of my all time favourite gigs even though I've seen bands/singers who I like more. Sorry it's long and rambly!
Looooovveee yoouuu all x

Oh nooo.. the abrupt end.. I was looking forward to see your goofy end as usual.
We like you.. I like you, Joel. You're a genuine, sweet guy. It's natural to feel lonely at times. I feel that way too even though I'm always surrounded with family, friends and colleagues daily.
Very thoughtful and sincere of you to care for everyone's well-being and be friends to each other. I honestly love being part of this cosy community. You're one of the rare, few content creators/youtubers I feel connected to. I'm happy to see you're very inspired creating new ideas and new content.
Q: On instastory, you've met up with Matt Beckley. Are you working on a project/song(s) with him?
I'd love to see you and your dad collab together so please make that video(s) happen! Till then, please take care and keep having fun~~π

I can relate to the stress thing so much. I like to work on projects and learn most of the time, but sometimes I overlook signs and burn out. I think I'm subconsciously like, I feel pain, I must do something right.. but that's not right at all π When I do burn out, I need to do something completely different, like going out with friends, going for walks and listen to music, watch movies, or RoomieOfficial videos π§‘

Itβs weird how friendship is a need, whatever form it takes, hey? Sometimes when I get sad I have this habit of isolating myself and making it worse. And somehow, laughing with hilarious people online can kind of shake that loose. We humans are such pack animals π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦

Iβve felt a real shift when it comes to community. I donβt know if others can relate, I know some people have been in this community for a long time. But pre-pandemic, I didnβt even know how to be a person online. Like, I wouldnβt have been brave enough to comment on a YouTuber or other strangerβs post. But as my social energy has gone way down, Iβve kinda learned how lovely online communities can be. I really appreciate it here and the thought of more community is exciting π
Q: How have your thoughts on co-writing evolved over time? I remember you mentioned you did some co-writes in Nashville a while back. But often it seems youβre this amazing one-man show. Junior Mint story: once when I was in high school I was in the cinema lobby with my friends, and these boys kept looking at me and laughing. I was like βUgh, those guys keep staring at me π π
β and my friend was like, βWait, what is that on your chest?β It turns out they were staring cause I had an entire Junior Mint STUCK to my skin, just like affixed to my sternum. And everyone pointed and laughed βΉοΈ
