New Video: How a Delicious Prawn Can Kill You – Allergies Explained

Dear Birbs,

Our last video of the year explores whether our extremely high immune defenses could be the reason for modern allergies.

For millions of years, worms invaded the human body and our immune system turned into a relentless warrior to fight and protect us. But what now? The worms have mostly disappeared, but our immune system is still armed to the teeth to fight them.

Thank you for your support, it truly means the world to us! πŸ’–

Much love,
all of us at kurzgesagt πŸ¦†βœ¨

This video and the last one made me unsubcribe on Youtube and cancel my Patreon membership as soon as the one year I paid for expires, sorry! So much incorrect information either depicted or spread or censored/politically cleansed statements used that I can not on a good conscience support this channel any longer, in fact I am ashamed to ever have started with it: In Palestine there is a genocide committed by Israel going on, so much regarding the last video! Yes, Germans must not say anything against Israel, okay, but the truth is the truth! And regarding this video defibrillators are not used against suddenly dropping blood pressure due to anaphylaxia or complete cardiac arrest, they are entirely only against ventricular fibrillation (hence the name defibrillator). They synchronize the heart's own cells that create the base rhythm of the heart by completely depolarizing the cross-membrane electric potential. Please stop to continue depicting defibrillators as "back to life machines" like movies or other mainstream media do, they are not that and have a very narrow and specific purpose. Against anaphylactic shocks with critically low blood pressure aside from i.v. antihistamines adrenaline analogon shots are used (or even in combination with each other) to get the blood pressure up again. I had an anaphylactic shock reaction twice more than fifteen years ago due to an until then unknown immense allergy against one specific broad-spectrum antibiotic while being held in an artifical coma. Modern first aid devices in the first aid kits thus first measure what actually is going on with the heart before deciding entirely by themselves if a shock has to be applied due to fibrillation happening. Only medical personnel can decide by themselves if that is the case or not, and they will never shock a patient for low blood pressure or cardiac arrest, only for ventricular fibrillation...
