POLL: The next Extended Play Lounge will feature...

It's time for a poll for our next Extended Play Lounge Episode. After starting the year with a poll of newer albums...then a very competitive poll of 70's prog albums, we're turning our attention this time to Jazz Fusion albums. Pick your preferred favorite among these five contenders!

I don't know any of the content on the Ponty & Mahavishnu albums. I know small bits of the Miles Davis album. And, I've only heard the title track from RTF...and I only know Birdland from Weather Report.

Happy voting! (This poll will be active through Wednesday, February 1.)

Happy to see Jean Luc Ponty, Jean Michel Jarre and Alan Parsons Project on the schedule.

James Keleher

There lots of great choices so I won’t be disappointed no matter which record wins, but Miles Davis Bitches Brew was the major step in jazz fusion.

Donald Holloway

There are nothing but great choices here. Any one would be an excellent listen, but I would be very happy to see Bitches Brew win!

Thom P

Wow such choices! Gonna be a tough one.

David Edinborough

I would have preferred Black Market to Heavy Weather as a Weather Report selection...just personal preference, they are both seminal albums

Bill Oboczky

Bitches Brew changed me as a musician and as a music lover.

Jean-Michel LaFontaine

of course, all great albums but we have lacked that Jean-Luc Ponty vibe around here. GQ-smooth fusion. The ethereal quality of the title track... The frantic run up to Egocentric Molecules... c'mon folks - jump on with me, you will definitely enjoy.

Christopher Arters (relative timeworx - Mr.A)

Voted for Birds of Fire, I have this on CD, it's as good as The Inner Mounting Flame. I was also tempted to vote for Cosmic Messenger, that's a very fine album. That title track is legendary. Actually, every option in this poll is great, won't be upset if either wins.

Einaras Sipavičius

All fantastic choices, but I'm going for Weather Report. Mahavishnu Orchestra's "Apocalypse" would be a good future subject, if only for the symphonic nature.

Bill Coonley

I’ve seen 3 of the 5 in concert multiple times and am sorry I never saw the other 2. So, as you may figure, any will do for me, but I’m partial to RTF, because Chick Corea was my first concert. All the musicians in all of these bands deserve to be here and should all be featured on an EPL eventually. Happy voting!
