The Farthest I've Ever Been Away From Home

As many of you already know, a few weeks ago we went to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was about as far away from home as we could possibly go. To be perfectly honest with you, I was scared to go there because of that distance. It’s literally on the other side of the world. It’s 13 hours in the future here. One of our flights was 13 hours. That was rough.

Anyway, this video documents the experience. It's not long, but I'm pretty darn proud of it. Shannon (Mrs. Beat) provided much of the awesome footage you see in it.

Thank you for your continued support!

Surprisingly, I didn't get much jet lag from this trip.

Mr. Beat

Looks like a pretty cool place! Traveling abroad is both fun and stressful. Once you come down from the initial adrenaline rush that comes with being in another country and the desire to explore it, jet lag can be a rude awakening for sure. I think traveling abroad is one of the best learning experiences one can have if you have an open mind and are willingly to go outside your comfort zone and try new things be it food or experiences.

That is amazing about the bullet trains. My family really wants to visit Japan, so that will likely be our choice when we travel to Asia again. Thanks for sharing all that.

Mr. Beat

I loved visiting Japan. I had a green car train pass for tourists and traveled over a lot of the country. I first went in 2014 and stayed 5 weeks. Then visited 3 move times over the next 5 years for two weeks each trip. It was easy to get around especially in cities with only English. So much to see. I recommend it. My last two trips I scheduled motels through Expedia. In general weekdays were cheaper than weekend days. Stayed at the APA Hotel only 3 blocks from the Kyoto train station. With the train pass you have unlimited riding on JR trains and bullet trains for up to 3 weeks.

Mr. Beat

Did you fly business class

How did you like Japan?

Mr. Beat

Pretty sure Chinese Malay food is the best damn food I've ever had.

Lots of neat footage indeed. Looks like a great visit

You were brave to try the Durian.

You probably had a lot of jet lag. I sure did going to the UK. Surprisingly, I didn't have much jet lag going to Malaysia and back! It was weird.

Mr. Beat

I loved watching this! Reminds me of the times I visited Japan a few years ago. Glad you and Mrs. Beat could make the trip! Great fun!

Damn. International flights are not fun. I just got back from Czechia a few weeks ago. Flying over the Atlantic is hard enough. Enjoy your stay.
