They had to save Armin, do you save the man who will sacrifice everyone for his dreams or the man who will sacrifice himself and his dreams for everyone? Armin’s that guy. Gotta save the one who sees the bigger picture, his dream is the sea, the infinite; Erwin’s dream is a basement, the finite.

When they discussed that Erwin asked his dad a question that day in the classroom, they briefly implied what the question was when his Dad answered it, but they didn't explicitly say what the question was until now. I didn't notice this until I rewatched it.
