The mangaka Tatsuki Fujimoto loves movies and even his manga art and paneling is cinema isk. The opening contains plenty of movie references as well.

They did a very good job of making us like her character so quickly. The pain… Also, very true about the angles and directions of certain shots. Production staff really killing it.
