Script the canvas "The magician".

Hello, good morning, how are you? I hope you are well. I hope you like the ASMR. Due to health issues, I find myself recording this in whispers.

How can someone injure their tongue? Anyway. First of all, we are now fifteen, FIFTEEN SUGARSINNERS!

Its magnificent. It would not be possible without all of you, joining the family, of course.

We live in a society where culture and art sometimes do not go hand in hand. Art has somehow fallen on the way.

Many do not know how to value it despite it being present in absolutely every place our eyes fall on.

And it is not surprising, especially in these times, when it is more essential than ever. Art is a luxury and those of us who only have the Vocation and breathe to create it, we usually find ourselves in the situation of... not being able our parent’s house. JOBS PLEASE.

Your contribution not only helps to value my work more, to replenish tools. It also feeds my soul. The more than 70 gigabites  drawn throughout my life, since I decided to take this seriously, back in 2009. I can only and humbly thank you for your contribution.

Well, let's get started. Enough beating around the bush.

Three weeks ago I said to myself, "Oh, my goodness, canvases! And I told myself that this month, in February, I had to paint one. And I had to surpass myself.

You know the result and I can tell you that I improved a lot, but let me explain a little bit about the process.

1- Normally, before painting a canvas, I usually give it Gesso to cover the pores, to even out the surface. This time it was not like that. This added difficulty to the painting, but also made a exciting process.

2- Once I decided not to use Gesso, the first step is to sketch. I was afraid of messing up the fabric, then I realized it was complicated to do so.

I ended using soft pencils to mark the shadows well Why? Because, afterwards everything gets covered, so what difference does the pencil make. It’s like painting over notes!

3- The next phase I learned how to do it in art school, scroll down, please. Thanks UuU. 

It's not a blue smurf. Here I was trying to put values only with blue and some red to distinguish shadows. A very stressful process, but fast nonetheless.

4- Next, I started with the skin. Here I realized that I was going to suffer a little. I've never been good at pulling out skin tones, even less so if they are dark.

Let's just say that where I live, people with darker pigmentation are either sunburned or of Romani descent. So apart

From photo editing references (unreliable because of the color filter light bulbs they use), it's complicated unless you train yourself with those tones. 

It is something that I have pending, the truth.

5- Throughout this process I realized that the more I painted, the more fluency I acquired. In a total of 18 hours, I can say that ten paintings more,

 and totally changed my perception of traditional color. It became easier and easier, I lost more and more fear, and in general, I enjoyed painting canvases even more.

The material is not too cheap, one more reason why I would love to switch to digital almost permanently...but being able to be there, mixing, 

smelling the paints, there is no comparison.

6- After about 10 hours of work, the painting already had the shapes and colors almost settled. It was time to give more diluted color, watered down, to change the colors and to fix some tones.

And fix some tones, as well as give details to focus certain parts of the painting. At some point, the magician stopped having dead fish eyes to be alive and there, I got excited.

7- A detail that I would like to highlight before finishing, is the border with blue, yellow and red lines. I don't know if you have heard anything about chromatic aberration, 

but of course, that was my intention. I was in a hurry to put it in too many places, so as an added experiment, it wasn't bad at all. 

You can also see that the moon circle was clean. There's nothing that white acrylic can't fix. And yes, that is unpainted canvas! Playing with whites. Saving them is not a bad thing! Although now I have to spend about 20€ on a liquid gloss varnish to protect the canvas and paint...will I be able to buy it soon?

This painting could go on auction or sell automatically for 150€, but we'll see what happens with it in the future.

Lienzo “El mago”: EL GUIÓN.

Hola, muy buenas. ¿Cómo estáis? Espero que bien. Lo primero de todo anunciaros que somos ya quince, QUINCE SUGARSINNERS!

Una maravilla. No sería posible gracias a todos los que os habéis unido, por supuesto.

Vivimos en una sociedad en la que la cultura y el arte a veces no van de la mano. El arte, de alguna forma, se ha caído a mitad de camino.

Muchos no lo saben valorar a pesar de estar presente en absolutamente todos los sitios en los que se posan nuestros ojos.

Y no es de extrañar, sobre todo en los tiempos que corres, cuando es más esencial que nunca. El arte es un lujo y los que sólo tenemos

Vocación y respiramos para crearlo, nos solemos ver en la tesitura de…no poder salir del núcleo familiar a hacer vida.

Vuestro aporte no sólo ayuda a valorar más mi trabajo, a reponer herramientas. También ayuda anímicamente. Los más de 70 gigas dibujados

a lo largo de mi vida, desde que decidí tomarme esto en serio, allá por 2009, os agradecen vuestro aporte.

Bueno, comencemos. Ya vale de dar vueltas al arbusto.

Hace tres semanas me dije ¡Ostras, os lienzos! Y me dije que este mes, en Febrero, tenía que pintar uno sí o sí. Y superarme.

El resultado lo conocéis y ya os digo que mejoré un montón, pero permitidme explayarme un poco en lo que fue el proceso.

1- Normalmente, antes de pintar un lienzo, suelo darle Gesso para tapar los poros, igualar la superficie. Esta vez no fue así.

Añadió dificultad a la hora de pintar, pero también lo convirtió en algo más emocionante.

2- Una vez decidida a no usar Gesso, el primer paso es hacer boceto. Me daba miedo estropear la tela, luego me di cuenta de que era complicado

Romperla, así que usé hasta lápices blandos para marcarme bien las sombras ¿Por qué? Por que luego se tapa todo, qué mas da el lápiz. XXD

3- La siguiente fase aprendí a hacerla en la escuela de artes, hace scroll, por favor. Gracias UuU. 

No es un pitufo. Aquí estaba tratando de poner valores sólo con azul y algo de rojo para distinguir sombras. Un proceso la mar de estresante, pero rápido.

4- Seguidamente, me lancé con la piel. Aquí me di cuenta que iba a sufrir un poco. Nunca se me ha dado bien sacar tonos de piel, menos aún si son oscuros.

Digamos que por donde yo vivo, las personas con pigmentación más oscura es por que se han quemado al sol o por la ascendencia romaní. Así que a parte

De referencias de edición fotográfica (poco fiable por los focos de luz con filtro de color que usan), es complicado a no ser que te entrenes con esos tonos. 

Es algo que tengo pendiente, la verdad.

5- A lo largo de este proceso me di cuenta que, cuanto más pintaba, más soltura adquiría. En un total de 18 horas, puedo afirmar que diez cuadros más,

 y cambio totalmente mi percepción con el color tradicional. Cada vez se hacía más fácil, perdía más el miedo y en general, disfrutaba aún más pintando lienzos.

El material no es excesivamente barato, un motivo más por el que me encantaría pasarme al digital casi permanentemente…pero el poder estar ahí, mezclando, 

oliendo las pinturas, no tiene comparación.

6- A partir de aproximadamente las 10 horas de trabajo, el cuadro ya tenía las formas y los colores casi asentados. Era hora de dar color más diluido, aguadas, para cambiar

Y arreglar algunos tonos, así como dar detalles para enfocar ciertas partes del cuadro. En algún momento, el mago dejó de tener ojos de pescado muerto a estar vivo y ahí, me emocioné.

7- Un detalle que me gustaría destacar antes de terminar, es el reborde con líneas azul, amarillo y rojo. No sé si habréis escuchado algo sobre la aberración cromática, 

pero desde luego, esa era mi intención. Me daba apuro meterlo en demasiados sitios, así que como experimento añadido, no ha estado nada mal. 

También podéis ver que el círculo de la luna quedó limpio. No hay nada que el acrílico blanco no pueda solucionar. Y sí, eso es lienzo sin pintar! Jugar con los blancos

Y reservarlos no es malo! Aunque ahora tengo que gastar aproximadamente 20€ en un barniz líquido brillante para proteger el lienzo y pintura…¿lo conseguiré comprar pronto?

Este cuadro podría entrar en subasta o venderse automáticamente por 150€, pero ya veremos qué pasa con él en un futuro.
