It’s been a very busy couple of days! But Amber is almost completely gutted from the cab forward.
I’ve had the opportunity whilst she’s like this to finally rip out all of the ambulance wiring, and as you can see from one of the photos, there is ALOT! And yet still more to come out!
The engine and “sprintshit” gearbox was lifted out via forklift about an hour ago which went surprisingly smoothly, and now it’s a case of removing the Mercedes wiring, and replacing it with the donor Van’s loom.
The engine bay will also get some love whilst we can get to things to bring it back upto scratch and I’ve stumbled across a few areas that will require some welding/new panels. Might as well get it all done now.
@Woodshop74 suggested selling off parts of Amber to folk once the swap is complete.
I’ve decided to run with that, seeing as I have the old Steering wheel, the front Wing, glovebox door and a few other bits that could make cool wall art… or some shit. 😆
But I can’t bring myself to profit off what are essentially scrapped items, so I’ll either do a free raffle here on Patreon where those who’d fancy a piece of Amber memorabilia can enter at no cost, or do a public charity auction where the proceeds will go to a charity of choice if legalities allow.
But for now I’m going to dive back in and start “the big swap”of parts.
I’m working on a video later tonight but all I ask is bare with me over the next couple weeks, there’s a lot going on over here so the output may slow down a little, but let me know your thoughts if you’d like these live updates and I’d be happy to keep you in the loop as the transplant progresses.
All my best,
C.J & Lance.
