Stay Alive

Chapter 95 – The Urge to Kill

Watching the people firing at them, Alan carefully took aim and opened fire. Bullets shot out of his rifle’s barrel, and almost instantly, the heads of two attackers exploded into a mist of blood.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Trying to suppress the gunfire aimed his way, Alan advanced slowly, occasionally hearing bullets whiz by in the wind just inches from his body. When he noticed Riya had driven to his position, Alan didn’t approach. Instead, he moved to the side and kept shooting at their attackers.

Kenny and the others had already run up to support the push. Assessing the situation, they began firing too, targeting the most exposed enemies.

At that moment, Kenny and the others had moved up, firing in every direction where they thought the enemy might be hiding.

The initial panic had faded. Kenny, alongside Glenn, gathered his thoughts, gripped his rifle, and prepared to strike.

Lee, next to Kenny, whispered, “Kenny! Let’s hold this spot—we have to cover the rear.”

Hearing Lee’s words, Kenny shook his head and continued forward, following the others—who were, in turn, following Alan.

Watching Kenny’s figure disappear, Lee could only grit his teeth. He rushed to the side of an abandoned truck and raised his rifle, firing at the people closing in on their position.

Alan, who had advanced with Riya, counted the remaining enemies—there had to be at least twenty-five left. But these people weren’t trained. They had no military experience.

In situations like this, combat experience, equipment, and positioning matter most. Right now, Alan had all three—and he had no intention of leaving until every last enemy was dead.

“Riya, just shoot the ones coming from my left. I’ll keep pushing forward,” Alan said while swapping the magazine on his rifle.

“I’ve got you covered!” Riya nodded, sweat running down her forehead. She was nervous given the chaos, but not the least bit afraid of the attackers.

At that moment, a man charged forward like he was chasing ghosts. Alan was nearby—he pulled a dagger from his vest.

Crack!

With the sickening sound of a skull hitting the ground, the man collapsed—and Riya took the opportunity to drive her knife into his throat. With terror in his eyes, the man was stabbed three times. Blood poured from his mouth as he died without making a sound.

From a distance, Alan spotted another target approaching and raised his rifle.

Bang!

The bullet shot out at high speed and hit the young man running ahead—not in the body, but straight through the head.

He raised his hand and fired again—this time at the head of another enemy. It exploded into a cloud of blood, and bits of skull and brain hit the ground. As Alan was about to approach that spot, he spotted someone in the crowd who caught his attention.

“Daniel?” Only now did Alan realize who he was fighting—people from the so-called Governor, someone he hadn’t expected to find here.

Now that he knew who was involved, Alan charged toward him but shouted first, “Riya, fall back!”

Boom! Boom! Boom!

At least three grenades were launched toward the enemy trucks, reducing them to flaming debris.

Seeing his men being slaughtered, Daniel turned to flee—but in that instant, Alan appeared from the opposite side and tackled him to the ground.

“What the hell are you doing?!”

Alan, clad in full combat gear, had his identity hidden. Under that disguise, he struck Daniel, who tried to shoot him.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The bullets zipped past Alan harmlessly, thanks to his special helmet. Taking advantage, he locked Daniel in a chokehold and, within seconds, knocked him unconscious.

“Keep moving forward,” he heard a voice say. Alan raised his pistol—but just then, Lee and Kenny appeared beside him, guns pointed his way.

“Brother?” Kenny froze, stunned to see his brother alive and well—after believing he might already be dead.
