Interesting change-up from your usual reactions, looking forward to more in this vein. The title COME AND SEE is a Biblical reference, it's from the Book of Revelation. It was what each of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse - Pestilence, War, Famine and Death - said when their Seal was broken and they were unleashed upon the Earth. There are lots of crazy stories about the making of this movie. Apparently in at least one scene (the scene with the cows in the open field) the director had LIVE AMMUNITION fired towards the child actors, passing just inches over their heads. Also for the sequence involving the liquidation of the village the filmmakers brought in a hypnotist to try and keep the main boy actor from consciously realizing the horrible things he was seeing...but it didn't work, and he just pretended to be hypnotized to make them happy. After completing this film the director retired because he felt he had summed up his entire artistic career with this film and nothing else he could direct would ever top it.

I have never seen this film, but I loved this short version & your reactions to it. I think foreign films are often so much more realistic than American & British films. The message was up front & clear & brutal. Thanks for showing it & letting me react along with you. Now, I'll have to find it on the Criterion Channel & watch the full version.

Great that you are doing a variety of films guys. This is an intense ride and I think its brilliant that you are bringing this film to the attention of the YouTube audience. Great video and reactions as always too. Nice work

OOh, this is an almost 40 min. reaction--will check it out and comment later. YAY for foreign films.

I got this film on Criterion blu ray a couple months back and it is one of the most horrifying films to release and many dont know about it. The reailty that things like the events in the film portrays is worse than any conventional horror film could come up with.

Watched this not too long ago. It's a really incredibly made and beautiful film. Can't say I enjoyed watching it and I don't really like war films but I highly recommend it to anyone who does. (Edit: And can I just say how thrilled I am that this is what you are following up the horror movies with? Cinema!)
