Comments

Apologies Carlos, we missed this comment, we have the full length reaction to OldBoy ready to be uploaded, before we do this however we will be uploading our reactions for The Fly, Psycho, An American Werewolf In London, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Thing and then we will probably upload the full length reaction to OldBoy closer to the weekend :)

I think its about one to two weeks most of the time. I thin two because Come and See was a couple weeks ago.

hey, im a new patron. when does the full length drop for this?

Ok guys....1st off I want to say sorry for this long ass rant I'm about to get into but if you're a fan of South Korean Action movies like me you'll understand why & what I am about to go into!!! South Korean ACTION films alone go so beyond anything Hollywood could DREAM of making now a days, the absolute LOVE & DETAIL that they put in their movies their BEAUTIFUL dare I even say close to PERFECTION....To give you subtext about me & my background I'm a proud American gal a Southern Belle may I say lol J/K that's a Georgia thing I'm from Houston Texas born and raised So From H-Town to G-Town(Galveston Island) and in between the two so what I am about to say take it how you will, Not all Texans are rednecks or white (I'm half white & half Mexican or as a nickname since middle school CoCo brown on the outside white inside or we used to be called mutts if you were mixed with anything HAHA kids or so funny whatever we never took offence to it even now my niece not being able to say Jessica said coco instead so even now my nickname is coco) nor are we all racists. Believe it or not I have never seen or held a gun in real life nor and more shocking I have never rode a horse to school or now to work damn it I have a car like everyone else !!!!!! Guess you'd consider me one of those fancy city girls you hear about every once in a while lol!!!!!. I said all that to say I hated the American Spike Lee's "reinterpretation" version of this movie. They make Josh Brolin an asshole from the start but unlike Dae-Su Oh Josh's character never really has a redemption arc,(they gave him the plan ass name of Joe, sorry if your name is Joe but every time they say his name in the movie it is as if they are pissed at him and annoyed they have to say his name)) you never feel his extreme panic like Dae- su Oh for his daughter to not find out the truth of what horrific things they did under hypnosis, Josh is a good actor no doubt but he was not a good choice for the role. Plus Spike Lee, himself was not a good choice as a director. And as a bonus punch in the nuts for Tom & Shaun he makes Lee Woo-Jin a British asshole and oh my goodness guys just to rub in salt on how he makes this Brit family very creepy and just all around fucked up in this movie. Woo-Jin was charming, calm, I don't know how to explain cause even though Woo-jin had sex with his sister in a sick way he loved her like a girlfriend not a sister, yet back in American Hicksville instead of just brother and sister having sex Spike thought it was a good story arc to make the father the Dean of the school that's how Joe found daddy & daughter having sex in a green house full of glass all sides????? UGGGHHH how did they not get caught sooner, BUT the kicker daddy is not only having sex with the sister but the brother(Woo-jin's character) and by their faces they love fucking their "daddy" EWWWWW I need a bath after even saying that!!!!! . Honestly I think the only one daddy wasn't having sex with is mommy!!!!!!! It's just a fucked up movie for the sake of being a fucked up movie. I really do not even think he bothered to see the original movie he just had his assistant tell him the major plot points. Cause I have no clue how he got his "reinterpretation" from the OG superior movie...SMH guys honestly..... dudes fuck the American Version don't waste your time, it's extremely hard to get through, the masturbation scene was really gross like with the original you felt his loneliness and how the woman were clothed fully no boobs or ass showing and how dirty he felt afterwards, Meantime Joe has a girl exercising 80's style tits and ass on display for him and even though he also felt dirty afterwards it felt more because the show was over not because he was lonely... Joe would be that nasty old man outside the store in a long brown trench coat naked asking you if you want some candy!!!!!! UGGHHHH I hate that movie! I keep saying "REINTERPRETATION" cause that's how Spike himself labeled it and in every single interview this is how he described his movie! You could 1 feel his EGO through the screen like he make some kind of masterpiece and 2 you could just tell he had no passion/love or even interest in making this movie!!!! Please don't waste your time unless your drunk and want a laugh then I would suggest watching it!!!! If you honestly enjoy the American version I'm sorry I am not saying your shit or you have shitty taste I respect the fact you dug the movie and hopefully it made you curious to watch the original I just do not as I've said multiple times and I'm sorry if I said something to make you mad or angry with me. I look at it as if another country that didn't speak English remade an American beloved classic like Rocky or The God Father hell any of Martin Scorsese's classics and they never watched the original didn't give a fuck about the project just did a fast cash grab or had to do it due to some kind of contract reasons That's what Spike Lee's version felt like to me, maybe had I seen the American version first I might feel different but as it goes now I hate it.. The even worst part is they actually asked the Korean director if he has even seen it before and being ever so nice about it he said no, It reminded me of reading how much Steven King hated the Shining(movie that is) it was actually so cringe that they asked him in the first place!!!! You know what though I could most def see Quintin Tarantino and Leo DiCaprio tag team this movie and you would get the heart and passion that the SK movie makers have and I know Quintin gives much love to Asian films in general. Hello???? Have you ever seen Kill Bill??!!! He presents Kung Fu movies alot like Iron Monkey with Donnie yen and Hero with Jet Li so the average American audience can get exposed to these great films they wouldn't usually get exposed to. Do I even need to say anything about Leonardo DiCaprio's acting??? He immerses himself into all the roles he plays. When I see him in a movie it's like I see no acting I feel as if I'm watching in him his home I believe his happiness, his pain and scariest his angry and suffering all in one. I do not have to sell Leo's acting to anyone any one who has seen a Leo movie especially post Titanic knows what a method actor he is and how far he takes his craft.... OK....Again I'm sorry. I'm off my soap box.....I'm really sorry for that and now my real reason for commenting. Beings that action/ psychological/ thriller movies are my favorite genre I have to recommend 3 AMAZING movies that just so happen to also be South Korean They are action packed redemption mind fucks of movies. The first is called "The Man from No where"( from 2010) Kind of like a Taken movie but more fucked up in my opinion. Also from what I later found out supposedly the "Ant" scam they run with the kids was a real thing back in the 80's and 90's in China with the Triads (if the info I was given was wrong please let me know, I am actually curious) I will leave it at that. The Man from No Where was my intro into SK action movies (thank you to Netflix at the time) and its still my favorite South Korean Action Thriller. The next movie you should really check out is called " I saw the Devil"( also came out 2010) I will say the hero from Oldboy (Dae-su Oh)is one of the main stars in I saw the Devil. Only other hint I will give is that I would say it's the SK version of Se7en I don't want to say better cause se7en still hold up today, but I saw the devil kind of fucks with you a bit more in the whole if this was me what would I do. I gotta be honest and let you know It runs on the long side but honestly being submerged in the story you don't feel it. And they keep the action packed til the end of the most messed up ended to a movie Ive seen in my 32 years. It's a true cat and mouse movie. Now I would call it thriller/ gore/ and investigative(not horror), guess that's why I am comparing it to se7en its the 1st movie that popped to mind cause even though messed up stuff was happening in Se7en it wasn't scary, if that makes sense. The final movie is called Mother (Came out in 2009) Now out of the 3 this is the slowest as in it's a slow burner, if I remember Shaun isn't really a fan of the slow burners but that's why Tom is my favorite!!! HAHAHAHA so just kidding love you to non loving slow burner of movies Shaun lmao!!!! J/K seriously the main actor in a man from no where is in this movie) It is also a thriller you follow this mom who is trying to free her mentally challenged son from a murder he was accused of. This movie reflecting on it now reminded me of when I saw The Joker, in the reasoning of how you can't believe certain people or their stories. It's really a detective type movie but set in a farming community and the cops are shit is all I can tell you lol. I am glad you guys are doing 10 foreign films. I believe you should expand/broaden your mind or way of thinking by introducing yourself to new music or movies other people's cultures of believe systems. Don't let a little bit of reading make you miss out on an AMAZING film!!!!! Here in America they(Hollywood and mainstream media) think Americans are lazy and stupid so that automatically means "we" don't like subtitles but how wrong Hollywood is(Just look at what won the Oscar & not just for foreign film). I would watch this version of Oldboy 100 times over Spike Lee's shitty re-telling . It's just such disrespect how the powers that be think so little of us!!!! To be even more truthful I love my country but American Movies have sucked except for the few John Wicks and Jokers of the past 5 years. So sad now a days I'd take a foreign movie with 1/2 the budget and twice the heart over an American unless it has our "Lord and Savior Keanu Reeves" in it lol just joking.....or am I hahaha. Also for Fuck's sake if you haven't seen "Train to Busan" watch it Best Zombie movie since "28 days later"!!!!! Thank you guys for making your channel and even though I usually watch you guys on youtube for the entertainment you give me it's only fair I should show love back. Tom BRILLIANT jump scare to Shaun during the Wailing HILARIOUS. You guys make it feel so comfy like getting together with friends on a Saturday just having a laugh and a drink at the beach well before Covid that is lol. I've been a nurse with the same doctor for the past 7 yrs and I see how real Covid is please wash your hands and wear a mask when you have to leave your home. It's just not worth it that person in front of you could be on his 8th day of having it but no symptoms yet maybe your immune system might not be as strong. Just my little PSA.....And sorry from my American OldBoy rant!! Hopefully everyone is having a relaxing weekend before the business of Monday rolls around again in a few hours...Much love!!! Stay Happy, Stay Healthy!! And damn it most importantly stay HYDRATED!!!!!

Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Lady Vengeance, Three Extremes and Thirst are also great movies by Park Chan Wook.

Two French Bears React

Great film. I was blown away when I first saw it. You should also check out Stoker, which was Park Chan Wook's US movie, starring Nicole Kidman. Very interesting film.

One of my favorites. Did you know this is the second part in a trilogy dubbed “The Vengeance Trilogy” that director Park Chan Wook made. 3 films, while different narratively, all centered around the different ideologies and aspects of revenge. If you think Oldboy is fucked up, wait until you see the other two.

Kane Le-petit

I remember being TOTALLY devastated at the film's end. Just wrung out. Now I'm gonna watch you all and see how you feel.

Ron Thibodeau

Yeah, Park Chan-wook is a fantastic director.

...that ending. I remember seeing this in the mid 2000s and being impressed with the directing.

It is very shocking and disgusting, however one you’d probably never forget because of its twist, but aside from that, it’s narrative storytelling and plot is quite unique and directing/acting is faultless

Should be a fun video. I was personally pretty disgusted by this movie in general, though it definitely had its moments.
