Friday the 13th (1980) FUN MOVIE REACTION! FIRST TIME WATCHING!

Comments

Sean Cunningham denies it. But Victor Miller who wrote the script admits to it and has stated that Cunningham wanted to rip off Halloween.

Darth Kal-El (Cory Weston)

It's funny you mention that after a while these types of films end up sort of self-parodying themselves or getting over the top. Friday the 13th Part 5 is my favorite film (after the 1st one) just for this reason. The film manages to parody its own franchise in this film. Some interesting twists, and characters that seem even more over the top than normal. If you want a good laugh (or cringe) with a surprise twist, give part 5 a go. A true 'hoot and a holler' as they used to say way back in the day.

Ron Thibodeau

Yup no hockey mask yet 😂

Almost six minutes in, Kevin bacon in my opinion has the most memorable death (as morbid as that sounds)

Glad you guys enjoyed it. Was fun watching your reaction. This is right in the middle of the 'golden age' of the slasher genre, and certainly a pioneer for what was still to come. F13 is one of my favourite franchises, and though they do get sillier down the line they remain quite fun. #4 is my personal favourite. They really nail the formula at that point, but 2 & 3 are close behind.

John

And yes, that was a real snake they killed.

Joshua Nelson

One of the definitive slasher movies! It's funny to think that a professed clone of Halloween (which the creators have admitted to) became a genre classic that spawned one of the biggest, most popular horror franchises of all time. While the first film is great, I actually think Parts 2 and 4 are the best in the series.

Sorry. Didn’t realize hitting return for a paragraph ends up pasting the comment. A few great slasher or general horror recommendations are Alice Sweet Alice... My Bloody Valentine (1981–make sure it’s the fully UNCUT version!)... The Prowler... Just Before Dawn... The Funhouse... Psycho part 2 (fantastic sequel)... Terror Train... Killer Party... Texas Chainsaw Massacre... Theatre of Blood... The Howling... Martin 1977 (excellent but low budget vampire movie)... Silence of the Lambs... Silent Night Deadly Night (think you guys would have fun with this one)...

Excellent review as always, guys. Friday the 13th part 2 is a personal favorite of mine. Probably the creepiest. And it’s Jason pre-hockey mask. So the outfit/mask is very unique. Parts 1-4 are safe choices. After part four they get much sillier. Gonna recommend a few for you:

Thank you for the kind words! yeah, did not expect Jason not to be in this movie 😂 And no we haven’t seen that movie, but we’ll add it to the list and check it out 😊 thank you 😊

Great reactions Guys! Loved the expressions on your faces when you realized Jason was barely in the original Friday the 13th . Also when you learned that the first female you saw wasn't the final girl in this horror film. Have either of you seen Peeping Tom directed by that great British director Michael Powell? Although it was released in the UK the same year Hitchcock released his masterpiece, Psycho, (1960), it was so reviled by British critics that it bombed at the box office & almost ruined Michael Powell's career. Today it is considered to be a masterpiece of psychological horror, a progenitor of the modern slasher film, & a classic about cinema in general. If you haven't seen it, would you please add it to your list? Thank you!

Yeah :) I can't wait
