Bond.....James Bond.....Can't believe that I'm just now getting to these. I'd only ever seen the Daniel Craig ones as well. So excited to start this journey with you guys and see where it all started. I love the style of the Bond films. So classy, suave and....well.....British. I can definitely see how Dr. No caused the spy genre to blow up and intoxicated a shit ton of people with "shaken, not stirred" martinis. I'm more excited for the sequels at this moment. Dr. No is a decent start, but not quite as good as I was hoping. I sincerely hope the Bond girls play a bigger role in the sequels. That's something I always dug about the Daniel Craig ones. The girls were played by dynamite actresses and the characters had substance. While that one scene where Honey Ryder (fantastic porn star name) talks about killing her rapist with a black widow was very well done, we get literally nothing else with her as the audience. She's just a pretty face after that. A little disappointing. Sean was great though. Definitely solidified the iconic character. Weird to see him young, spry and.....very grabby. His go-to-move was to definitely grab the collar. Very forward. It's gonna be extremely hard to watch these films without Austin Powers' voice echoing in my head, "To be honest, you are a bit rapey. Even I like to swing, but Dr. No means no, baby." The stunts were another thing that stood out to me. While some of them had spazzy flailing energy, most were pretty impressive for the 60's. I'm so ready for From Russia With Love! Will Sean's hands-iness persist?? Until next time on Cinema Rules! PEACE!
