Foregone Fables Dust Alloys Guide - Diamond

Crystal Dust, while not very powerful on its own, is a key component in creating multiple other, exceptionally strong types of Dust. Glass Dust is a material in two different Dust Fusions; merging it with Fire Dust creates Obsidian Dust, and merging it with Metal Dust creates the exact opposite: Diamond Dust.

Like its "Twin", Diamond Dust was invented relatively recently and is mostly created anew. It's usually in liquid form. It's slightly more well-known than Obsidian Dust, though still very underrated. This Dust is used more in the industry than in battle, but there are specialists who use it as well. Creating Diamond Dust is the most common use of Glass Dust.

Diamond Dust works similarly to Glass or Obsidian Dust, the main difference being the material produced from it. Diamonds might as well be the antithesis to obsidian, in the sense that it is the hardest-to-break material in the entire world. Diamond can also be very sharp, and unlike obsidian, it is transparent like glass.

Infusing Diamond Dust with one's body creates the same effect as Glass Dust, except instead of becoming weak and fragile, the user becomes incredibly strong and durable, enough to withstand a collapsing skyscraper, and strong enough to punch with the force of a large hammer or pummel boulders like pebbles. It also allows the user to create diamonds from their body as spikes that can be attached to them or thrown.

Diamond Dust has the same overall capabilities as Glass Dust, except with a much stronger material, and can also change the diamond's color, shape and composition and even replace it with even more resilient carbon-based materials such as lonsdaleite. It allows the user to create barriers, shields and weapons from diamond, cover their body in armor or claws of diamond, create a diamond ramp, seal enemies in a diamond crystal, create controlled hands of diamond, generate tendrils of diamond that bind enemies, cause diamond crystals to spurt from the ground, create explosions of sharp diamond shrapnel, and create levitating diamond prisms.

While being slightly more well-known than its "parent" and "twin" Dust types, Diamond Dust hardly gets any recognition as one of the more powerful types of Dust. Its uses are mostly defensive, making it more appealing for huntsmen and people who play the hero. The small, humble cultural reference to Diamond Dust usually portrays it as a symbol of defense and protection. The same people who make those references often ignore the fact that the complete opposite of Diamond Dust, Obsidian Dust, is created from the same type of dull, useless magic that makes up Diamond Dust.
