Flexi Phoenix (BETA)

I'm keeping this in Beta for now because there are a few little adjustments I still want to make. Plus I made about 30 little changes since this last test print. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ But I think it's good. (fingers crossed)

Keep in mind you need good adhesion for the feathers.

Thanks again, and Happy printing
-Dan

Flexi Phoenix (BETA)

Comments

Oh absolutely. This is a really old post from a couple years back. I don't delete them so people can go back through and read the information. But when you purchase it for 40% off from My Mini Factory or Cults... it's the most updated version.

Dan

is this print out of beta? Someone found this and wants me to print it for them. I just want to get the right file. thank you

Stacy Pender

I'm not telling ;)

Dan

Oh I'm not saying I've had any issue. I just often get requests to make them small and that's where my worry comes from. The more simplistic models scale down a lot easier. I printed one of these at 65% just to test how small I could go and it was beautiful and decently strong for the size... that is until my husband dropped it on a concrete floor. XD

Tiffany Gobkes

I broke a wing joint at 75% getting it off of the plate.

Courtney Pacula

There's nothing to worry about with this one, printed at full scale. Maybe add 3 or 4 lines of a brim. Just make sure there's a tiny gap between the print and the brim before you you let it get past the 2nd layer.

Alex

I did 75%. It's absolutely perfect. Feels delicate, but no problems at all.

Alex

It is an amazing model. I think it's my favorite that I've printed so far. It's a pretty high bar to beat in the future. XD I have a love hate with the complex prints like this. They're so beautiful but I'm so scared of breaking them.

Tiffany Gobkes

Probably won't change the design much, but I do have another "surprise."

Dan

Hahah. I am waaaay too young to retire :) But I really like this model.

Dan

Flexi you can retire now. This is your masterpiece. Everyone go home how. 3D printing is finished.

Alex

Ive Printed 5 so far and have found no weak points yet at 100% size. They are also flying off as soon as they get done to! LOL

Anthony Reuter

People are buying them like this, wonder how much better you’re going to do it.

Nathan Castleberry

Printed at 65% on my Artillery Sidewinder X2 and it came out beautiful. I have a Fulament flex bed and used the smooth side with no adhesion issues. <3 I was worried it would be a bit fragile at that size but so far the 4 year old test has proven it to be surprisingly strong for the size. She has been pretty gentle with it though. So far no breaking even with me flailing it around excitedly. Update: My husband dropped it and it broke. XD Only one feather and a wing snapped off but that apparently is how it landed from his full height onto concrete. I've now discovered my husband is a better stress test than my child. :b

Tiffany Gobkes

Printed Great on my anycubic Vyper. No adhesion problems at all. Came out perfect!!!!

scott manning

I used textured plate and 3Dlac spray. No issues for any prints :-)

PROTONORD

Prints amazing on my prusa's and ender 3 s1 pros. never once an adhesion issue. please tell us your making a killer flame style display stand for this guy????!!!!!!!

Andrew Henderson

Printed at 100% scale with a Duet 2 Wifi and color-shift PLA. Looks amazing! The only issue I had was keeping the feathers stuck to the bed for the whole print. I have a Wham Bam PEI sheet, and sticking isn't usually a problem, but I had to use some glue on this one, otherwise one or two of the feathers would release from the bed 1/3 of the way through the print. I love all of your designs....keep them coming! :-)

Barry Cripps

I have printed this at 100%, 80% and all seems fine. Update on the 70%. the print came out great on the build plate. once I had time to get it off the build plate. Thats where it showed up. the tail fuses together at this small. The middle wings don't articulate well. The tips and feathers all move as they should and the head. the legs won't come down all the way. I have not tried 75%. However I will add. that at 80% the Phoenix articulates off the build plate without any post processing. 70% is too small. The links are too square for it to move.

Print3dReality

The Phoenix is amazing.... I love it!!

Sabrina Hart

just printed the phoenix printed outstanding!!!!!

tom

I just printed this and it is gorgeous! I added a brim for fear the adhesion needed the support but I think even without the brim it would've been perfect!

πŸ‘» Danelle πŸͺ¬

ive printed 4 normal size and im waiting on x2 175% ones to finish they have come out absolutely perfect

Ryan Legere

I'm using several different filaments now for my marketing photos. That one was just a gray, I have the Amazon list here on patreon if you want to see what filaments I own. I just slept a light on there to make it more fiery 😁

Dan

I will always sell on Cults... But patrons get early releases. Especially this one, I won't be coming out to the public until probably December.

Dan

I really don't because I have so many machines and different settings. If you join the discord on the main page, there are lots of folks there with great ideas and recommendations. I just kind of put standard for most of my prints 15 to 20% infill, three walls..

Dan

This prints out awesome. We have printed 2 and both are perfect

Sarah Taubert

Do you post recommended settings for printing your designs?

Jacob Hilderbrand

Looks amazing! Can i ask what fillament you used? I'm thinking to use cookiecad sunrise since i see you used the brand a couple times before

I'm loving how this lays out on the print bed – I'd say this is going to look stunning in rainbow filament – the rainbow should coruscate across the wings πŸŽ‰

Mark Wheadon

I have not tried that small.

Dan

Looks amazing!

Aaron Bucher

Sweet! Very cool bird! Can’t wait to print it.

Alan Davis

I’ve been thinking of getting that v400. In your opinion, is it worth it?

Dan Phillips

Yep. On our discord! Links at the bottom of the main flexi factory patreon page.

Dan

Haha..oh no. Too good

Dan

Just about done 5 hours 15% on the Flsun V400. Looking good. Thanks Dan you do great work

Wise Impirnt

Good adhesion isn't my problem, getting it off Is πŸ˜… glass beds are good and bad but the same with pei beds but definitely way easier to remove prints . I be biting my nails trying to remove this one off the ultrabase 🀣

William Hargraves

Is there anywhere in particular where people post photos of stuff like this?

Matthew Redmon

Got mine on the printer now

Dustin Schwarten

Just started it. 14 hours sized at 100% with 10% infill. I don't want to wait that long (making it for my daughter Phoenix) but also wanted to run it at 0.08mm layer height so I'll have to be a bit more patient than usual. Running at default speeds (up to 450mm/s) except I slowed the outer wall down to 50mm/s (helps with shiny filament like I'm using on this).

Matthew Redmon

18 hours at 20% infill

Carla Schrum

ohhh cannot wait for one of the printers to get done this is amazing ty much

Carla Schrum

Looks really great!
