Gearing up for Content ID War

So first thing's first, yes, this is an upload from one of our many dummy channels. Call it a Patreon exclusive, just don't judge us too harshly. The real reason we're posting this is because it's a fun track that we think you guys would enjoy, but we originally made it as a test. We received yet another copyright strike from Warner for a John Williams score that doesn't appear in the video. This time it was our track "Power of the Force", which we titled an Imperial March remix. So our video was claimed as an arrangement of Imperial March. We realized that studios may not even be watching or listening to any of the content they claim, but merely doing keyword searches and claiming anything from the results. Enter this track. It may never get seen, but if it gets claimed for Imperial March, it'll be hilarious.

We're also going to be producing a full version of this track and you guys can expect a copy of it once it's done. Enjoy!

How many times do you generally test upload to see if it gets an auto strike?

copyright striked by Kellogg

lol amazing. You should've used words that rhyme with Imperial - maybe Williams has the phrase "Imperial March" trademarked. Cereal March? Bacterial March? Ethereal March? Venereal March???? By the way PLEASE GOD TELL ME YOU'VE SEEN THIS AND PLAN TO DO SOMETHING WITH IT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyDwnz6y_4I&t=0s

JTruts

Not sure who that is, but it DEFINITELY became the voice of fabulous Elrond in our Ten Guaranteed Improvements to The Hobbit

Auralnauts

Hahaha that dummy channel - is that Zak impersonating the Honey Badger guy for the Hobbit trailer reaction?

That's a tough one because the automatic detection would probably take care of that, as it should. It's the manual stuff where all the she shenanigans are taking place. If they fall for this one though, it sets a precedent that we're hoping to drive all the way up their asses.

Auralnauts

Not sure yet! We'll have to get through Ep. 6 first before we even consider it. We've each seen it multiple times and we're still not really sure how it would fit into our version of events. It's too straight forward and not as visually campy.

Auralnauts

You could look at this from a different perspective: now that you know they are not listening and simply doing keyword searches, avoid those keywords. The counter experiment would be to do a blatant rip off of John Williams on a throw away channel but avoid keywords and see how long it takes for them to notice (it would take forever). I sense clever shenanigans...

claim perjury for warner bros in the claim repeal

Love you guys... and how this is trying to prove the point of the absurdity of your copyright claim you've dealt with... I love your music. As usual, your work is awesome!

This is fabulous, the incredibly rich companies trying to stamp out all creativity are... not

Sorry that corporate BS is still making things hard on the little guy. I'm still happy to support you guys and your content, no matter the where or the how.

Off-topic question, but I couldn't think of anywhere to ask: Are you guys planning on doing a Star Wars episode with Rogue One?

These Cheez-its... are making me thirsty!

Scott Santens

I've been watching these movies for 30 years and the Empire Strikes Back soundtrack was one of the first cassettes I ever bought for myself when I was a child. This is note for note identical. You guys are so screwed.

We're with one already. They tried to stay one step ahead of the system but Youtube cut them off at every turn. In the end they weren't able to do anything different than what we're able to do on our own. By their own admission, they're still trying to figure it out as much as we are.

Auralnauts

This is glorious. If it gets a strike, I hope it gets some serious traction in the community. Content ID has been a plague for far too long.

This is a total rearrangement of the Imperial March.

There's got to be a way to handle content id matches better -- I hate suggesting this, but would joining a media network help? The bigger ones claim that they can help handle content id claims, but I've heard both good and bad experiences regarding this. Also, they dig into your revenue. It's such a shame that you are penalized for blatantly obvious false positives.

Love the 80s synth pop sounds

I just started laughing out loud when the vocals came in. Well done!

Mike Dunkley

I love this so much, I hope they take the bait. Weird to hope someone you're a fan of gets ripped off, but here we are. Crackin' tune too
