New podcast episode and some news

Hey everyone!

Hope you're all having an excellent 2019 so far. If so, keep it up! If not, we hope this little update contributes at least a little bit of positivity.

As some of you may know, 2018 was not a great year for Youtube content creators. More and more channels are failing to meet Youtube's standards of ad friendly, and a lot of us, even with consistent audience growth, are seeing our content pushed to the fringes of the ever merciless algorithm. Hopefully this is the year that YT learns what a mistake it is to destroy channels that put money in their pockets. Until then, we'll keep doing whatever we can to make you guys and gals laugh.

We've got a new video coming out soon that sort of falls in the same zone as our Try not to Laugh and Update video. We've got some pretty solid material in there, and one scene in particular had us pausing the video because we were crying so hard. Can't wait for you to see it!

In the meantime, click the link for episode 4 of the Excelsior Podcast. This episode deals with manly crying, and why we should do it more. I know a lot of you have been asking about the regular podcast, but rest assured it will return. If we're being honest, all of our YT problems combined with everything happening in the world has us thinking a lot about mental health, so we truly feel that this type of content is at least worth pursuing.

Anyway, we can't thank you all enough for your continued support. You're the reason we've been able to come this far, and we're eternally grateful.

Love,

Craven + Zak

It's taken 4 days, but I've finally got through this. Great stuff Zak, it's worth highlighting these things. The one movie that springs to mind that always gets me going is "Heather's death scene" from the middle of Highlander - gets me every time, I'm welling up thinking about it.

Sounds about the same in both places. It’s a little more acceptable for women to cry here, but they still have to deal with the stigma that they’re too emotional and that is somehow a bad thing. Interesting that Sweden seems so depressing to you. Is there data on that or just an observation on your part?

Sorry that your dad situation was less than ideal. My own situation is a little more complicated than I get into during these podcasts, but mostly because I don’t want to cross that line between being helpful and personal therapy. Let’s just say there’s a pretty good reason the Yandu scene hits so hard. The pet thing is definitely a no joke trigger though. Anyone who isn’t effected by pet related sadness is a serial killer.

I saw Guardians of the Galaxy 2 with my dad, that darn cat stephens montage got me close to bawling my eyes out, of course the conditioning of not being allowed to cry in public stopped that but still. I'm curious about something though, in the US, is it considered alright for women to cry a lot in public etc.? Here in Sweden it feels as if that "No crying!" thing applies to everyone except children, it's probably worse for men but still, maybe that's why the we're so depressed here, or maybe it's just because we hardly get any sun in the winters..

I had a dad "in my life" but he wasn't part of my life and I didn't even realize it until much later when I noticed I consistently have 0% emotional response to any of the father-son schmaltz in movies. It just annoys me... is it over yet? Seeing other dudes respond to that is like a colorblind person watching others oooo and ahhh over color. What does make me cry is the thought of a pet that's died or is going to die.

I'm crying regardless.

perfect timing. I'm about to hop in the car and head home. A little Excelsior for my afternoon commute!
