Episode 19 of the Auralnauts Podcast

Hey everyone!

If you've got some time, check out the latest episode of our podcast. It's a fun, real time commentary companion for the sci-fi/horror classic Event Horizon. There's some project and channel updates at the beginning and the end of the podcast, so check it out even if you don't want to watch the film.

On another note, we've got some things in the works that will hopefully rekindle some life into our channel, including some classic Auralnauts style mischief, some new episodic material and of course new music. Thank you all so much for being patient with us and continuing to support us. Youtube continues to be a frustrating, soul destroying experience and we've been adjusting our lives around it as much as possible. One thing is certain, your Patreon support is literally the only thing keeping us in the game at all, and whatever the future brings, you can be sure that it's all because of you.

Love you all,

Craven + Zak

I love this movie. Cant wait to watch again with your commentary

Event Horizon should be hailed as a sci-fi classic along side Alien and Blade Runner. There's nothing else like it. I don't know if they mentioned it, but Event Horizon is getting a series on Amazon. No joke. Look it up.

Event Horizon made 26.7 million. That's like a million per each rotten tomato.

That was highly enjoyable, thanks. I haven't watched that movie in a long time (and yes, I saw it in the theater when it came out) - holy shit did my brain just eliminate the ridiculous plotholes that need to be measured in astronomical units. Like - why didn't they just test the fucking thing on a crewless ship and pit in a camcorder or something to see where it went and whether it worked? That seems like a pretty basic engineering principle - "When designing an entirely new kind of device, don't test it for the first time with real people by the planet literally furthest away from earth that's still in the solar system". And why wasn't Sam Neill on the ship in the first place, if he designed it? What if something went wrong on fucking NEPTUNE, wouldn't they want him there to fix it? And your point about the end-stakes being absurdly low totally sailed over my head the first time - like this thing comes back into the universe and its whole goal is to bring 4, maybe 5 people back to hell, which made the whole thing worthwhile. If it works the way it's supposed to work, it could literally just wormhole its way into Times Square and then go back with like 40,000 tourists, I feel like that would go way farther in satisfying the blood god or whatever nonexistent backstory makes this movie necessary.

It's all about those 2040 Space Car CD Player Computers that use optical media. The future!

This will be the film version of mixing slurpee flavors

I haven't watched Event Horizon in years, still scares the shit of me just thinking about it. I'll listen to the podcast when I get a chance but I know it will be good so you can have a like now.

Good news, Event Horizon is $3 to rent on Amazon.com. BUT....Humanoids from the Deep is free, so maybe I'll watch that, listen to this, and see what happens.

Oh man, I'm totally gonna do this. I don't generally do horror, but I'll make an exception.
