Dear Patreons,
After a couple of busy weeks here comes a bit of a longer update than initially intended. I had originally written a post for last week, however it seemed that Patreon was not very keen on complying with posting it. And then on I went.
It's been a busy week, very much consisting of watching free movies in the cinema and attending the events of the Viborg Animation Festival. I know, sounds like hard work, right? Anyways, that's not all that has been going on, so let's rewind a bit and get into it all.
First off, the first storyboard drafts for Tales of Zale episode 3 are now 100% finished! This means that I've been able to divert my attention to a few other pre-production tasks before getting into the juicy stuff. This time around there will be other people joining the visual production, which is a super exciting aspect to me. But that also means that everything has to be ready and slick for other people to be able to jump into the production. This is where my former NAS-drive investment comes in, as that will be able to provide a server of 4TB where everyone will be able to share their files on. Over the last couple of weeks I've been setting up folder structures and filled them up with all sorts of useful stuff like TVPaint Toolboxes, style guidelines, background references, models sheets (which I've been revamping for the occassion), brushes, storyboards, looktests and much more.
Since that has been set up I've started doing small animation bits, ready for clean-up, and I'm working on making some posing for certain shots at the moment.
Did I mention the voice actors yet? Well they have been contacted, and are currently turning in their lines bit by bit. Thanks to all you amazing patreons I have actually been able to pay them a bit for their hard work this time around, which feels amazing to say the least!
On the voice acting-note the audition for the two new characters featured in this episode; Bruhn and Xerxes, are well underway. If you're a voice actor in the range, feel free to give it a try or share it around!
Another nice expirience that I've had over the past weeks was when I did a Talk about Tales of Zale at The Animation Workshop. It was super nice to be able to present the project to people who didn't know about it, and I've since had people I don't know going up to me telling me how much they like it. Which does make me feel all warm and happy inside. You can see a picture of me doing the presentation above.
As the very last note I've uploaded another BTS Animatic video, this time from Tales of Zale Minisode 2. I'm still figuring out the upload schedule for these, but safe to say I've got a few more in store. If there's other behind the scenes material you're interested in seeing, do let me know!
