RETROS Character designs

Continuing the weekly posts I'd like to spend this Sunday's update, sharing some early character designs from my RETROS project. The project is still in early development and things are bound to change plenty as the pre-production continues. As such, this material is the sort that will often get buried as time progresses - however it may bring an interesting insight into where the animation started and where it went from there.
Long-time followers will know that I haven't always spent very long on the pre-production part of my animations. Back in the NATA-days when I only had 3 weeks to create a 2-5 minute animation from scratch I would usually only be able to spend a day or two on the character designs and rough storyboards before I began to animate. The rest had to be improvised along the way. That can be fine when the production is very small, but for this one I'd like to increase my range, and as such the preliminary work has increased, especially when it comes to exploring different approaches and figuring out which one is the most fitting for the story. To be honest I'm having a lot of fun with it too, so I'll take the time it needs.
Attached you'll find a bunch of different character explorations. At the time of writing I'm still working on new designs for these characters, so nothing is final - but it shows where I've been at throughout this process during my stay in Korea.
