A festival week in review.

Dear Patreons,
I apologize for the one-week gap in posts. Things got quite hectic with the onset of the annual animation festival here in Viborg.
I was at it from dawn till dusk! Well, for the first 3 days I was back in Copenhagen for my mom's 50th birthday. We had somewhere between 50-100 guests and I was the only one around able to help out with hosting them all.

Then I came back and was part of a creative media conference, talking about games media and the Danish and Japanese animation industry. It was honestly a little bit depressing some of it, since a lot of it revolved around automatizing the creative process as much as possible. Well, to animators aiming for realism you might at least want to look out, because machines are catching up faaast.

Afterwards began a director's workshop that I participated in. I got to know a lot of cool new people in the few days it lasted, and got to try out a new medium! We each had to produce a 20 second animation within 24 hours based off a Haiku. With everything else going on I didn't think I had time to actually animate something substantial, so instead I went for shadow puppetry! Number 5 is the one I made. It was pretty fun, especially when the time came to put it together in After Effects and make it look like something.

After that it was Sunday and time to have Tales of Zale shown in the cinema! It was super cool to see it on the big screen and it did pretty well up there. Afterwards I had a little director's talk answering some questions about the series and such. That was cool too.

It had been my intention to do a behind the scenes thing of the action scene I had worked on, this week or the last. However editing it all together has ended up taking longer than expected, and time's been sparse due to working on the bachelor project. I hope to have that ready for next week though!

Till next time,

- Sif

(PS: on a side note I am currently trying to make some changes to the Patreon page as you may have noticed. More long-time supporters have been jumping off as of late, which is understandable since Tales of Zale episode 3 was never intended to take this long to produce. Since my situation is a little bit different from when I first sat up this page I'd like to make changes to be transparent and reflect that fact. As it is right now I don't have the time necessary to spread my efforts across multiple tiers of rewards, so I've reduced the number to just one: for one dollar you can get access to all of the updates I post. I will write a full post on this at a later date, but I hope that my actions are understandable. For anybody who's ever pledged more I'd like to assure you that it has all gone towards the creation of my projects - mostly Tales of Zale - and any month where I haven't been able to work on it I've saved the amount for a later date. Well, I'll try and finish the re-branding and make a full post on it as soon as possible. Just please understand that everything is currently in a transition period.)
