Hyundai Elantra N TCR version 1.0

Hi all. Last couple of months, when I was talking about the announced Cupra TCR update, I sometimes mentioned another TCR car which will join the roster. I expected that I will be overwhelmed by the questions which car will it be, but almost nobody asked :D Probably people just missed that part :D Like when I released the Cupra TCR, there were a lot of questions whether I will do more TCR cars or not, and I said it is very unlikely. But you know how it is, if the opportunity arises, you should get advantage of that, so here it is, the Hyundai Elantra N TCR car, in version 1.0.

To be honest, firstly I didn't like how Elantra looked, it was like a boat with weird sharp edges. I never considered doing this mod, but then some interesting things happened. Firstly, I got my hands on the Elantra TCR car manual. I went trough it, found some interesting stuff... Something was similar, something completely different to Cupra. But once, in a weak moment I took the Cupra physics, adjusted the data from Elantra manual and I put it on that infamous Virtual TCR Elantra version just to try it. Did some tests, some comparisons, I was playing with it a little but then, I forgot about it and focused on Cupra.

Then another thing happened. I am a Slovak and there is one very good Slovak TCR driver Mato Homola, who drives the Elantra TCR in TCR Eastern Europe and I had the chance to speak with him. He told me that the Cupra is very good, but he would like to have Elantra in the AC for training... You know, just a small talk, but he said if I would ever work on this, he would be willing to help. Ok, but still I was not convinced.

Then the break point happened. Since couple of my mods were recently featured at the Low Fuel Motorsport portal, I got in touch with their CEO Boris, and I was discussing some planned updates with him, since I didn't want to cause any troubles by releasing some updates in the middle of the season. We had quite a nice talk and he said he was big fan of my Cupra TCR and he asked what would it take to do another car TCR car. So I said that I basically just needed a 3D model of Elantra TCR, because I already fiddled with the physics of this car but I dont have legal 3D model. So Boris agreed to help me in this and he decided to buy the commercial 3D model available in online stores with quite a detailed interior. So Boris, big thanks once again to you and to the whole Low Fuel Motorsport crew! Without you, I would probably never start this project in this decade :)

When I received the model from Boris, it was indeed detailed. Too much detailed, more than 1.000.000 tris which is not acceptable for a multiplayer racing, so I had to reduce the polygons, and remodel some parts which were lacking, or weren't there at all or were in wrong position. I even used the iRacing's Elantra TCR to compare and to screenshot some parts and modeled it from scratch. The final result is not bad, the car is quite detailed, interior as well, sometimes even more than necessary. Later I plan to work a little more on some interior materials, when I will have time.

The physics files originaly came from Cupra but were completely reworked. Elantra is longer, has different suspension, different engine, brakes gearbox, at least the tires are the same so both cars share the tire files. The suspension is not laser scanned, but built using some accurate CAD drawings and measurements from the PDF files and from my paddock sources. So not accurate to 1mm as the Cupra, but quite close. Dampers and ARBs are unique as well, there was quite a lot of data in the documents. Aero is very similar to Cupra, they are both touring cars, similar construction, and there were some data in the PDFs as well about the aero, so it is data based as well.

The whole development of the physics took quite a lot of time. My goal was to balance the performance with the Cupra TCR mod, so they can race against each other. And after a lot of hours of testing (thanks to the LFM crew again!) I can tell that the both cars are quite close to each other, but they retained their unique characteristics. Generally Elantra in basic setup is quite soft, but there are a lot of options how to adjust the car to your needs, just play with the setup :)

The car utilizes multi-page display with all necessary pages for racing, including working launch control page which will appear when you will press Extra F button like Cupra. To run this car, you need to have Content Shader Patch version 0.2.3 enabled. Will work on lower versions, but I don't guarantee the compatibility.

So guys, I hope you will enjoy the second TCR car from my workshop and don't be surprised seeing it battling the Cupra at the 15. season at LFM :)

Second manue after running the contents manager?

경현 이

you can setup the car in setup screen, ride height is in suspension tab.

Roman Fusaty

Are you thinking of continuing to upgrade?

경현 이

How do I set it up? Since I'm Korean, I want you to understand by using a translator

경현 이

if you mean ride height it is restricted to 80mm because of 2024 TCR regulations for Elantra. Default setup is slightly higher, you can go down a bit to hit the 80mm exactly.

Roman Fusaty

The garage looks high. 98% satisfied

경현 이

not sure what do you mean. Any details?

Roman Fusaty

Well, I like everything, but can't I drop about 1.5 cm after I wear it?

경현 이

I was a competitor in the TCR Virtual, that made me fall in love with TCR cars. Your efforts go a really long way, and I will watch with great interest. I personally want the Civic next since that's the car I drove, but you do whichever you want. :)

Just from the top of my head the porsche 917 GT4 from kunos feels more "gripy" and asking the all mighty AI, the GT4 Roolbook states a tire of 265/660 R18 front and 305/660 R18 rear on the GT4s. where the TCR are 250/660 R18 on all corners. I am sure you already use that car, and its all in my head :D oh! and based on the Ohio IMSA race, the GT4 and the TCR are almost the same speed. where the TCR are just a bit slower.

Sebastian

thx for feedback. Just wondering, is there any other car in AC (preferably Kunos) which has the tire behaviour you expect? Which has the right feeling?

Roman Fusaty

Love this Car and all your other work! Hope i dont come across as ungreatfull. I would realy like the tyre model be diffrent, it feels like a road tyre and I don’t get the feeling of a slick tyre. I have not driven a tcr car in full race spec, so it might be 100% accurate.(I have driven other cars in race spec :P) But I feel like the tyre is way too hard and soapy. Miss the snappyness of a race tyre. Hope this comment finds you well and it is considerd as constructive feedback! Keep up the great work! //zebbeba

Roman Fusaty

Hello, is there a way to contact you privately to talk about using your content in our league and some more questions please.

ignacio marques

I'm absolutely addicted to this car, the best mod 2024 so far

Chris McCawley

Thank you very much Fuzo, it's exactly what I'm looking for, it works great ^^'

Howny

if you want to tinker with it, use this tutorial to do it: https://github.com/ac-custom-shaders-patch/acc-extension-config/wiki/Cars-%E2%80%93-Audio-options

Roman Fusaty

Oh yeah makes sense that's sad

Luis Bioucas

Perfection !

Catarina Eufemia

What a crazy job done, it's so impressive, well done to the whole team ! However, is there a way to slightly increase sound of the turbo, whether during reloading phases or during gas releases?

Howny

I tried, I spoke with people from Comtoyou team and they tried to get the model directly from Audi but we were told that the model they used in their promo materials was done by external company and they don't have access to it, or something like that. This car already is in some sims, even in AC, but I don't really want to use illegal models for my TCR projects... Data I already have - manuals, telemetry. Basically the whole Cupra update was build with this data, because it is the same platform.

Roman Fusaty

Hi, for the audi Data and 3d model, maybe you could try and send an email to the Coronel Brothers, they might help. I mean you've got nothing to loose Anyways THANKS for the Elantra, I've been waiting for this car in AC since 2022

Luis Bioucas

It sounds like wind. It actually might be the sound of the tyres on the track. It seems unusually loud just with the Hyundai. I could just turn down my tyre volume but I deliberately have it quite loud normally so I can hear what the tyres are doing. So really its just an issue of the balance between the "constant" sound of tyres when just going flat out on a straight and the "dynamic" tyre sounds you hear under braking and turning.

Josh

sound config files are the same for both cars, are you sure it is wind? Wind sound can be reduced in AC sound settings. Never noticed this issue...

Roman Fusaty

well, I really wanted to do new Audi, but there is no usable legal 3D model available anywhere. And I am checking quite often :D

Roman Fusaty

Hey I'm loving the mod and am looking forward to using this and the Cupra in LFM races this season. With the Hyundai in particular though I'm finding the audio slightly odd. There's quite a loud wind noise at high speed which is loud enough to almost drown out tyre and engine noise. I've tried tinkering with different audio levels but I'm not sure which specific audio slider governs this wind noise. Its strange because I don't have the issue with the Cupra.

Josh

Thanks! Amazing car again. U are so fantastic! Fun to drive this beauty. Thanks again!

István György Schmidt

Fuzo thank you very much the mod is great i made many skins for different tcr your mod is perfect i have a request can you make a new version of Audi RS 3 LMS TCR 2021 and do you also have a Toyota GR Corolla Sport TCR mod

Vitaliy Kalmykov

I want a facelift version elrantra tcr!!

PRADA

for now, I dont have any data or contact to someone who has access to it, will see, but trio Cupra, Ela, Civic would be interesting pack :)

Roman Fusaty

Amazing work! any chance of doing the Honda Civic FL5 TCR?

Michael

thx

erik ostermann

Launch control is made in a way like in real life, on both cars. I will create a tutorial for both cars and post it here, it will be usefull for all.

Roman Fusaty

hi again fuzo how to use the launch control i have it on a button on my wheel but dont get it?

erik ostermann

Yeah, but its Iracing, and i dont have the money for it :(

Cristiano Marques

there is one in iRacing :)

Roman Fusaty

They do, but it depends sometimes on the track and setup. They were built in a way that they can race against each other.

Roman Fusaty

do the cupra and the elantra have a bop?

erik ostermann

pain. i wont ever have a good veloster tcr :(

Cristiano Marques

Oh sorry, there are no plans for Veloster. These cars are not even racing in Europe so the access to the data and all other necessary stuff would be very difficult for me...

Roman Fusaty

fuzo, can we get a Veloster TCR? I BEG
