Chapter 2 progress update

The last week was mostly spent promoting the launch of the “Nothing is Forever”. It was really exciting to finally having people play my game and seeing it being well received! I’m generally happy with the reviews it got and the feedback gathered. I’ve also got my first patrons which I would like to take this opportunity to thank for the vote of confidence trusted upon me. I know it’s risky to become a patron of new developer coming out of nowhere and that I need to earn your trust and the trust of future patrons. But I’m confident that I’ll be up to the task and that our community will increase during the next months to make this game better and better.

As for the short term, the major point of criticism I got during this week was the art style at the beginning of chapter 1. More precisely that the characters’ black outline was too strong. However, the general opinion was that, by the end of the chapter, the images already looked quite prettier and aesthetic pleasing. I take all constructive criticism seriously and will improve this weak point of the game. Therefore, during the next few months I’ll redo the first images to make the art style more consistent and aesthetic pleasing across the whole game.

Speaking of Chapter 2, with the game’s release out of the way, it’s time to get back to development. While chapter 1 had to introduce the theme of the story, characters and game mechanics, this is not a problem anymore for Chapter 2. Because of that, the 2ndchapter will be a bit shorter than Chapter 1. Around 80% of the size. I estimate around 2 and a half months of developing time.

Since I’m new to devoting videogames, these first estimates for the next releases might be a bit off. It’s important that I learn at this stage if I can make precise estimates and keep to my release targets, or if I’m underestimating /overestimating the time needed to produce a chapter. At this point, my estimate for the release of Chapter 2 is the 2nd half of September. Upon release, I’ll revisit this prediction and, based on the result, adjust my future predictions.
