Added 2024-06-16 12:34:06 +0000 UTCI drew this page while listening to all the bewildering news going on in France (where I'm from)... it's hard not to look up at the news every few hours. France has a very good chance of falling into the far-right's hands in less than 3 weeks all thanks to Macron (he currently has the honor of receiving A LOT of my outrage right now).
I don't yet know the impact of it all in the near (or far) future, concerning my work. Right now, it slows it a little down because of news watching and going to march in the street, but it's not too bad, I still work at a satisfying pace. If the near-future France features the far-right governing the country then it'll be another story... (I won't stop making comics but things might get prioritized over comics).
There is hope, rising hope, that the new left alliance "Front Populaire" will make a stand against the far-right, and if so, if they win on the 7th of July legislative elections, then it's going to be ONE HUGE PARTY, it would be... INCREDIBLE. And my work will be affected by my partying wildly that day :)))
Either way the legislative election goes, crying will be involved.
Until then, let's enjoy comics.

In The Netherlands the right wing populist party (One man, essentially) won a lot of seats, but luckily not nearly a majority, and other parties are either refusing to make a coalition with them and the ones that will/may will at least make them a lot more moderate. (coalition parties usually have some demands in order to form a coalition, and if they don’t hold up their end the coalition party can break up the coalition and then there are new elections.) In Portugal, where I live, the extreme right wing party (another 1 man party, essentially, just like the Dutch one) won big in the European elections and has been gaining small victories in other elections...

2024-06-19 08:01:48 +0000 UTCSadly this appears to be happening in Canada as well with our Conservative (yikes !) Party most likely to lead the country soon, along with right wing governments already in place in many of our provinces. Although it feels like "one step back" i am hopeful for another "two steps forward" some day soon.
