Upload Notes: Opportunists

The first story of a brand new year~ First off, I hope everyone is feeling refreshed and healthy here in the distant future of 2021! Last year was certainly eventful... but I'll go on more about the past and future in another post sometime soon. Just a little hint that I have some announcements to make later on in the month~

Let's talk Opportunists! A new story from a regular patron. I have to admit, when I was first given this outline of an idea, I was a bit perplexed by how to go about writing it. The themes seemed, well, very contradictory! It begins as a rather selfish chase, two giants going after a single woman with intent to just eat her, consequence-free, but with the peculiar ending that one of the giants fall in love with her roommate. I think even my patron here can agree, that's different! ... And I like different, ahaha, for better and for worse I'm just keen to take on challenges that bring about weirder stories.

In any case, I think I managed to make these different ideas come together well. I wanted Desiree here to feel warped for coming across a giant she genuinely felt attracted to, as if something had been unlocked in her. I went about it with the idea, "Sometimes you meet someone that completely changes your worldview." For Desiree, that new worldview apparently is "sell out my roommates so I can get a date." But hey, I think that's fine with how weird this world is to begin with~ Giant people just eat up tinies for free, so it doesn't seem so farfetched.

That reminds me of another topic that I had to wrestle with here, which was the "logic" of the universe -- not unique to this story, but a lot of size stories. So many use the logic of "this is just how this size-altered world is like," and the Real Official Writer in me thinks of that and screams, "Nooo!! You can't just NOT EXPLAIN every part of the world!! You can't make a world that just doesn't make sense!!" But then I remember, I'm writing for size fetishists... fucking lol? Why am I caring so much, this is totally the world people want to be immersed in.

Haha, I've been going through a lot as a writer these past few months... Thoughts like this have really weighed me down, made me think a little less of my craft. The same happened with Discovery, where I constantly felt this pang of, "This wouldn't pass as a Real Book written by Real Official Writer." Of course, I eventually come to terms with it -- I'm writing the worlds people want, and those worlds have logical flaws that make the story better. I have to remind myself of that a lot, haha.

More to the story again... I liked how this came out! Again, I was on the fence about a lot of parts, but ultimately I like the story told here. Whitney's chase through the city is exciting and unique, most giants in this scenario aren't stomping around after one person, so focusing their destructive tendencies to one objective was really fun, helped me split up the action. The romantic aspects were charming as well, I especially liked Desiree navigating Heather's hand through the apartment, a scene that manages to be unique and also intimate. And it helps that a few of you are hand fetishists, so I know there'd be some interest in that~

I'm looking forward to uploading more stories~ Like I said before, several stories have just been slogged down in the writing process, but multiple are coming out the pipeline right now, ready to go.
