Upload Notes: The Hexed House

In the spirit of Halloween, I offer this fittingly spooky story to my patrons~ Hex Maniac has got her hands on a weird dollhouse this time, and it just so happens to be kidnapping Alolans and shrinking them into toys! It's definitely a strange concept, ha~ I was every much on the fence of even writing this story, but some clever ideas came to mind that inspired me to get it done. It's Halloween, it's Hex Maniac, I had to do it.

It is a little late for Halloween though, hmm! Ahh, I had hoped I would be able to get this completed before October ended, but it turned out longer than I expected and I didn't like how my rough draft came out, so a big chunk had to be scrapped and redone. I'm happy with how it came out, though admittedly, the ending is a bit rushed~ I really couldn't think of a swell way to put a period on things, not without leaving the reader with a lot more questions, so I had to ease things into a vague ending that leaves you wondering. And there's a lot to wonder! Maybe if there's support for it, I can continue this story and where else it could go~

I really enjoyed Anna and Junko here as a pair. The whole setup was really funny to me, I liked the idea of two "ghost hunters" getting haunted by a giantess, and these two had some excellent chemistry through their journey. I had wanted to do more with the camera~ but~ I couldn't come up with anything that would work smoothly. If this were a visual medium, you'd totally have shots of the camera's POV spliced in, it would have been sick, but alas it's not so exciting to describe something twice.

Well I hope you all like this new short story~ Going forward these next few weeks, I'd recommend keeping your eyes peeled for maybe a new addition to Discovery~ My girlfriend wants some more of it and I have some ideas, so do look forward to that! Thanks again for all your support~

The ending was a flop, no lie~ It wasn't how I wanted to wrap things up, but the alternative was making this a way longer story, and I was already despairing over missing my Halloween deadline. Figured it'd be about as much fun if I just left it open for a sequel~ but I don't know when exactly I'd get to that, haha. Sometimes just leaving the reader with that open ending, and letting them explore their own ideas for what happens next, is the kind of ending best for these types of stories~

Ahh yes, the hexed house, my favorite scp. It's a cute and weird story, and I like things that are cute or weird. I like the concept of being shrunk somewhere totally unfamiliar, and the way it happens here is real neat. Another thing I like is how you give the shrunken ones personality, even in a short story, as opposed to other writers who'll have'm bland as cardboard. That being said I felt some parts were just a tad bit underwhelming, like the end, but this scenario lends itself naturally to a sequel that could go in any direction. I'd be down for a sequel, the world could use some more quality hex maniac content.
