Upload Notes: Study Sessions and Size Changings

A new and original story~ I've almost forgotten how difficult it can be writing my own characters under my own situations, haha. I've become handicapped with all these fanfics and commissions, it's so much easier to work with characters that aren't my own. When it's my own characters and plot, ugh, I have to think of everything. It's worth it, though, since the characters feel a lot more alive and the situation, ideally, becomes more immersive with them.

Can you believe I'd write another story about witches? I love the aesthetic, you caught me. I love seeing witches living in modern worlds, "vending machine iphone witches" as I like to call them because that's usually how mine tend to be. People that can cast magic but also have a Spotify subscription. I love art like that, stupid as it might sound~ I like the feeling that, just maybe, there are witches around today. Witches... They're so comfortable~

This story went through a pretty big rewrite as I was going along. I had the story almost finished when, after some feedback, I realized some glaring problems~ One was that the characters were meaningless, haha. Aside from Luciene, everyone else might as well have been Becky, Becky 2, and so on. I didn't have unique personalities for them, or at least, I didn't let those personalities shine enough. Two was that the interactions were lacking in substance due to how hectic I was writing the scenes. Multiple sizes is a LOT of stress on readers, you're constantly shifting perspectives and when you include original characters, it's hard to keep up with who's who, doing what, and where. When I rewrote the second half or so, I decided to keep Lorelle and Freya's scene much briefer and calmer. There was originally going to be a standoff with Luciene's familiar, a black cat named Gerold, but then the scene was just... weirdly about Gerold too much, haha~ Sorry, I just like black cats. Gerold just added more drama to a short story that had too many problems, so he hot nixed. The result, I think, is much better~ Overall, it's difficult to attach yourself to characters that are just constantly panicked and freaked out, you don't get a chance to relate with them.

Maybe some of you will notice, but this story took a number of your suggestions into account~ I was inspired to write this after looking through the November survey, so I hope that if you suggested something, you might see it here in the story! Of course, I also had a lot of my own ideas added in, it's not like anyone requested witch stuff..................... unfortunately.................... but I kept you guys in mind when writing this, I hope it's in a direction all of you will appreciate~

As for where this story will go, I do have a part II planned that should provide a little more depth to all the characters. A slower chapter with less chaos, haha, and more personal interactions and developments. When that will get completed, I don't know~ If there's interest in seeing this continue, I'll consider making it a priority~ For now, this will be a private story here on patreon for a few days, and will go public later.
