[Behind The Scenes] Ganyu's Bedtime Rubbing Challenge (Cum in Underwear, Edging Challenge, Rubbing, A2M Risk, CEI Risk)

This JOI is my first JOI orienting around bedtime, and features new time optimization techniques.

Cutting out & Shadowing

This video features a lot of situations where Ganyu is on the bed, and the viewer may be in the dark. To keep the scene dark, increase immersion, and improve consistency, many of the assets were cut out in Photoshop, and shadowing was manually added in post.

Advanced 3D

Immersion is something I put great attention to in my JOI videos. Therefore, I started to use a lot of 3D in my works. In this video, I have done something new, and used 2D layers to build a compatible 3D scene with depth.

Optimizations

To optimize workflow and provide videos faster, I'm always seeking to automate and render videos swiftly, while retaining quality. One problem that has been noted is my use of Camera Lens Blur in After Effects. While it's a great and realistic blur for backgrounds, it drastically increases rendering time, as every frame's blur has to be recalculated. Therefore, for the background of videos, I have opted to go for a much cheaper gaussian blur. For still shots, I blur the background in photoshop using Camera Lens Blur, and import the blurred background into After Effects. This change alone sped up rendering time by about x4 times.

As we know, my video style currently features text that transitions line by line. However, the process of animating this for a long video can take up to a week. Therefore, another new addition is a custom script that attempts to automate this process. I simply click on a text layer, run the script, and it automatically splits the layer into segments with appropriate timing. Currently, this script is still in its early stages, and is quite buggy, but it works for the majority of the time, and helped a lot.

Script & Research

A lot of the research needed for the video has been reused from the previous Ganyu video. I wanted to retain some connection to the previous video as well, but since this video doesn't focus on NTR, I only kept the relationship between Ganyu and the viewer. This could be considered some form of a prequel or a different timeline to the previous video.

Sound design

Because this JOI is oriented around bedtime, I left only small sound effects and fap to the beat, without moans. There was also a plan to add a beat indicator to the top right of the screen, for those wishing to watch the video without sound at all. However, after many attempts, the indicator is either too quick, too subtle, too confusing, or too intrusive. To avoid any delay in the video's production, I have released the video without it.

Future plans

Since automation significantly saved time in this case, I have plans to automate the process of asset gathering too. Gathering and sorting assets can take a couple days at best, to 3 weeks at worst. Hopefully I can successfully create a working program for this.
