Diary Entry: 27th Feb 2020
Added 2020-02-27 09:19:11 +0000 UTCo) WELL WELL
Launch in the weeks time and I've done a bit more prep for launch and readied myself for what come after with the extra time. It's so very weird to have my stuff actually ready to launch and be a proper thing after all this time. I just hope I do right by the folks who join in.
o) CALENDAR GIRLS
With the patreon launch now being March that made all the work on the prior months Calendar girls out of date somewhat and annoyingly. So as a result the new months calendar girl had to be made... which I started...
And realised that theme I'd gone for wasn't really in this month, but next month... so what I assumed would be March is actually Aprils girl now... ¬_¬ So not only was the recording of that April video cursed with mistakes and gaffs but also the date is wrong because I'm an idiot and picked the wrong month... AT LEAST I'm a month ahead, ha
o) MARCH CALENDAR GIRL
So I have made and done the one for March. March as you may know is a month when not much happens honestly aside maybe birthdays. It's not known for a great deal in terms of events or being memorable unlike others which have more a defined theme or something about them. It is what it is.
In the end I decided to go for a book worm type cutie (for world book day) and have it a little more humble a girl sized / scaled and I assumed posed. As I was making it however I noticed it was taking sometime to put together and a bit of self doubt crept in of me honestly able to make and bang out stuff in enough time each month at this rate.
But I came to find that it is because honestly the image is when I put it in scale with the calendar MUCH larger then most image in terms of scale and the pose. I've come to remind myself this is one of the most horrid things, working at one pixel size and doing super massive images.... takes so long.
I even added more background parts to this one also (Which I also hate in a way - rather spend the extra time working on a new image but that's just me) so all in all while I'm pleased with her and like the design generally I created some baggage with the whole thing honestly, lol
If nothing else it's just a reminder only for exceptions like this that keeping them more in scale and ideally not farting around with backgrounds is the better way to do things in the future. I'm sure you fine folk would rather see more girls than me arse around on things AROUND the girl you know... Well at least this one has a video for its creation also so that should be a thing to watch!
o) ART PILE
I had the pleasure of going through them lately to find the odd ones I record videos on of me making in the past and was once more reminded just how much has been made over the last few years. It can be honestly a little scary as some I don't remember making or even working on some.... o_O Don't get old kids!
As a result I'm going to have to budget my time quite a bit into getting old stuff all completed and pumped up and out for standard of the new material as well as maybe save colour splash or quick CG for some. I haven't quite got mind around the idea of a schedule of getting stuff out in a month, but once I have and people know what to expect I may try and incorporate some of this stuff.
Some of it may stay as crap doodles, but some of it really is kinda special, not to be thrown away and I can't wait for this Patreon to be the excuse I need to go and release them!
o) GAMES
As I had a little time spare I've had a time to play on some games and as I don't want to be totally business business here lets get into some.
/ Dawn of War + Ultimate Apocalypse mod (v1.88.72) - So I love RTS's even if they seldom get made properly these days but this one has it all. I love Warhammer 40,000 as a theme and this mod basically cranks the idea of the game upto 11! Titans and new races and generally its glorious. I've played my humble guard faction (you'd be surprised how I've typed iG [iGAPES] instead of IG [Imperial guard] ^^) more than I care to mention and more games on this lately. Highly recommended.
/ The Signal from Tölva - Indie game about exploring a planet with other a robit and killing other robit robots and exploring and such. It's honestly a very fun game, well done for an indie game. While exploring it it turns more into a 'far cry' like game experience of clearing out camps and picking bits up I still found this a treat to play. 50% or so in so far, more as I do more.
/ Sins of A solar Empire: Rebellion - A odd but fun RTS Game based on ships and planets. Its close to being like a a grand stat type game but not quite there (on smaller maps anyhow) but is a game I'd for sure look into if you are after a RTS that's a bit different.
/ Slay the Spire - I doubt I'll say more on this going forwards as every entry would have it. I play of this quickly as its a quick game (within an hour usually) but I play a stupid amount of this. Like hundreds of hours at this point. Just know its fucking great and you should probably play it if you haven't already. And honestly I don't like 'card' games like Magic, but this one is dynamite!
/ Frostpunk - Sunk too many hours into this on my days off. City builder where effective management of resources and challenging scenarios make for a pretty damned fun game. Great presentation overall and once you get the 'feel' of the game its a gem. Keep and eye out for this one yourself!
Anyhow, better get back to work ^^ Cheers all"
