The Formula 2 race had a similar bad accident. The two crashes demonstrated the usefulness of the new "halo" system of protection around the drivers' heads in cart style cars where the head was traditionally unprotected and open to the elements. I think without this halo the Zhou crash could easily have seen him break his neck the way he was scraping along the ground upside down so violently

Sunday July 3rd was the 2022 Formula 1 Race at Silverstone, UK there was an awful crash at the start of the race that involved the Chinese driver for Alpha Romeo Guanyu Zhou ( not Schumaker's son, Mick) Zhou got sandwiched between two cars, got tagged skidded off track and flipped, continued skidding upside down to the edge of the track , the car somersaulted over the primary barrier and slammed into the secondary barrier outside the track. The race had to be red flagged. Zhou was okay.
