Pitches wanted for military content / news | $100 (mostly) up to $250 per piece

We've poured more funding into our freelance budget in the meantime, so if you've been furloughed, pitch me you stories!
Our pay rates range a bit based on assignment, but all fall within the range of $100-$250 per piece. Over the span of the coming month, most assignments are at the $100/piece rate because I’m trying to maximize the number of furloughed writers I can get work out to. This is a tough time for everybody, but many writers in the “gig economy” in particular are looking at a lot of uncertainty right now. If I can alleviate that a bit for some folks, I’ll sleep better at night.
We’re looking for pieces that can educate, inform, or entertain our target audiences, which are junior service members and their supporters — military spouses, parents, etc.
