I'm looking for personal essays on the theme of "Adventure". We may be stuck at home, but as writers we can transport ourselves (and readers) anywhere.
I want to read about the wildest adventure of your life. Think travel essays, but with a twist: The focus should not be just on describing the location—tell me a story of something incredible, unusual, and exciting that happened while you were traveling.
And this is important: Take it step further and tell me not just about a location, and not just about something incredible that happened when you traveled there, but how that experience changed your life/perspective. So: I'm looking for dramatic, narrative essays, with clear takeaways.
RATE: $300 +
WORD COUNT: 1,800-3,000
DEADLINE: 4/3 (After 4/3 I will not accept email subs, but you can still send through Submittable)
Full drafts are great but pitches are fine too.
Pitches should be in-depth, with a clear sense of the narrative arc and takeaway.
Complete essays should be sent it as Word attachments ONLY. (Not pasted into the body of the email, not as Google docs.)
I will respond to everyone, but I will not confirm receipt of each pitch, so please don't email me to "make sure I got it." If you haven't heard from me after a month, go ahead & follow up—until then please be patient (I get 100s of replies to these calls!)
