Pitches wanted for mini-essays (impact of COVID-19) | ~15 to 35+ cents per word

We are accepting pitches for mini-essays addressing the impact of COVID-19 on non-tenure-track historians (defined broadly to include archivists, museum workers, grad students etc.)
Mini-essays are 200-500 words. The base pay is $75.
Possible topics would include the pandemic's impact on:
- research publication
- teaching and learning
- public history/museums
- libraries and archives
- graduate studies
- the academic job market
- conferences and professional societies
Your pitch should be one paragraph and address the following questions:
- How has the pandemic shaped your work and life so far?
- What are the main issues you face in the coming months?
- What questions are you going to need answers to?
We will take pitches from anyone. We will, however, prioritize pitches from people who have completed postgraduate work in history (or a history-adjacent field) and are working outside the tenure-track professoriate.

The mini-essays will be published as a roundtable sometime in June.
