We are building an investigative journalism team of freelance writers  on the topic of genuine spiritual freedom. We know that this phrase has  infinite potential meanings. This is what we mean...

We  are all a product of institutional thinking; social, economic,  cultural, political, religious, corporate-speak, advertising, ad  nauseam. We know, or ought to know, that these systems of thinking are  deliberate, intentional, and seek to affect our behavior. It also stands  to reason that if we are unaware of or simply indiscriminate to this  exhaustive real-time messaging from virtually every aspect of our daily  lives, then we are much more likely to merely react, passively  participate, or even become fully immersed. This all amounts to a  colossal distraction from our own ambition, goals, desires, dreams, and  even our unique personality. Stated differently, it is an existential  threat to ourselves, made manifest by our inability and/or  apprehensiveness to living exactly the life that we actually desire.  This is, in no uncertain terms, a crisis of the heart.

We  would like to respond to this cultural phenomenon with a team of  investigative journalists. We would like to respond through the power of  the written word. It is important to stop and reflect. Despite  everything we have experienced of late and everything we will yet  experience, there are two things that remain paramount and increasingly  important: your contribution as a human being, and your community that  supports those contributions. We will accomplish both through this  endeavor.

We are seeking a 200-300 (minimum/maximum)  word sample writing from you that punches this theme with personal  experience, cited and relevant examples from past or present, succinct,  interesting, and bold contributions. Controversial ideas and writing are  encouraged as we are pushing back on all systems of thought in the hope  of genuine freedom and mobility toward our heart of desire. The part  that makes this writing spiritual is the idea that we, in and of  ourselves, are not the highest form of truth, existence, or wisdom. We  encourage you to draw on your supernatural experiences as much as your  natural ones.

Selected writers will help us build a  vibrant writing community force that is published online, emailed to our  followers, and that ultimately will engage with our readers in dynamic  ways. We envision interactive events both online and in-person in our  quest for contributions and community.

A few further  details: this position begins as an independent contractor and pays ten  cents per word to start. Writers that establish consistent work that  pertains to readership metrics and the essence of our mission, may be  offered formal employment. All persons of all backgrounds are encouraged  to submit a writing sample for consideration.
