Remote Senior Writer wanted for consulting firm | $85,000-$115,000 per year

COMPANY/PUBLICATION: AXIOM RESOURCE MANAGEMENT (VA/DC PREFERRED) 

Axiom is seeking a lead writer/journalist to join our team supporting the Air Force Surgeon General Office of Congressional and Public Affairs (SGL) in Falls Church, Va. Successful Candidate will produce quality articles and other written materials for SGL in support for Air Force SG priorities and focus areas. Plan, write, develop and edit articles, briefing materials, social media and web content and assist in other public affairs projects as required by the director of SGL.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL:

• Possess strong writing, editing and interviewing skills
• Provide expert Public Affairs advice and guidance to SGL government staff
• Work with the government client to plan content calendars that sync articles, social media and website content to enhance Air Force Surgeon General priorities
• Support Air Force Medical Readiness and Operational Medicine through carefully-researched, well-written and thoroughly edited articles, feature stories and press releases.
• Produce and review additional Public Affairs content (talking points, FAQs, public affairs guidance, communication plans, video scripts, congressional testimony, social media content and others) to support Air Force SGL.
• Support Air Force Medical Service Transformation efforts with Public Affairs products

REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

• Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field and at least 5 years’ experience in communications in government or industry.
• Experience with military or health care is preferred, as well as interacting with senior executives.
• Strong writer with good organizational skills and adaptability to meet client needs as they arise.
• Attention to detail and respond to tasks in a timely manner.
• Willingness to be proactive and search out interesting stories about what makes Air Force Medicine unique. This position currently includes an option to work remotely, preferably in the Northern Virginia/DC area.
• Ability to undergo a background investigation that requires U.S. Citizenship.
