We have some long-overdue guidelines to help you pitch us—and help your pitch land in the right place! Included: Our new 45-day payment policy, which I'm so happy about.
I want to highlight one very important note in here: "Finally, because outdoor adventure writing has historically highlighted predominantly white male voices and subjects, we are particularly interested in women, BIPOC, LGBT+, and other diverse voices and subjects."
Pitch guidelines may seem like a simple thing, and something we should have done long ago. That's not wrong. But our sincere hope is that we're able to broaden our stable of writers and that this will be a good starting point for that effort.
Rates typically start at 50 cents per word for online stories and go up from there, depending on the complexity of the reporting and your experience as a writer.
