I am seeking freelance journalists for a new nonprofit aimed at ensuring all patients access to drugs/treatment. Health reporting experience helpful, not essential if you can dig, get people talking, turn policy into prose. Competitive pay. All kinds of diversity welcome.
PLUS+ NOTE: Recent reports indicate that this publication pays $50-$100 for short blog items, $250 to $500 for explainers/how-tos, $750+ for a personal essay, $2500 and up for longer reported pieces. It is recommended that you discuss/negotiate the rates individually prior to commencing work.
PLUS+ TIP: Instead of sending a generic application, explain in your cover letter why you are the best candidate to write about US healthcare. Highlight relevant experience, credentials and publication credits. Unless otherwise stated, attach your strongest clips (or links to published work) and a brief but succinct resume. Good luck!
