POSITION PROFILE:

Girls on the Run International is seeking qualified candidates to develop social and emotional learning lessons for future programming initiatives. Girls on the Run uses running and other physical activity as a platform for teaching life skills and promoting holistic health outcomes for girls in third through eighth grade. Our innovative lessons are specifically targeted to foster competence, caring, character, connection, and contribution, in addition to teaching critical life-skills such as managing emotions, helping others, intentional decision-making and conflict resolution.

The contract Lesson/Content Developer should possess a passion for creating relevant, engaging materials for third through eighth grade girls and have expertise in designing culturally responsive, girl-centered lessons and content. The contractor should have knowledge of or enthusiasm for designing learning experiences that incorporate physical activity and support development of social-emotional skills. The right candidate is an out-of-the-box thinker who welcomes feedback and collaboration, enjoys being creative and has experience working with and/or supporting young people.

This position is a great fit for anyone who enjoys a fast-paced work environment and creating content that integrates physical activity and social emotional health. The lesson/content created will be primarily girl-facing, so candidates should have experience using simple, relevant language to compose accessible and engaging material.

SCOPE OF WORK:

Collaborate in the initial design of content (lesson structure, learning goals, material design, etc.)
Develop 2 lessons to align with identified learning goals
Integrate feedback to revise lessons following review session

QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrated experience designing lessons/content/curriculum for elementary and/or middle-school aged children
Demonstrated experience working with/supporting young people (teaching, coaching, counseling, etc.)
Knowledge of and/or expertise in creating culturally relevant/responsive lesson/content design
Knowledge of and/or expertise in child-centered learning design
Knowledge of and/or expertise in lesson alignment
Knowledge of and/or expertise in integrating physical activity within lesson content
Able to create accessible content relevant to a diversity of girls’ experiences and ability levels
Thrives in a fast-paced work environment
Welcomes feedback, able to integrate/revise based on feedback, able to pivot/think flexibly
Able to quickly create and turnaround content
Willing and excited about collaborating on design process
Able to work independently and as part of a team (minimal guidance or collaborative work depending on the point within the design process)
Excited to try new things, mix it up, and ask “What if?”
Motivated by opportunity to design content that supports the whole girl (physical, social, and emotional well-being)

COMPENSATION:

Girls on the Run International will pay a total of $400 to $600 for the agreed upon services. Please include any pay, payment terms or other requirements in your cover letter. Initial assignments include the creation of 2 lessons, with an estimated work time of 14 – 16 hours total. Successful completion may lead to future opportunities based on organizational needs.
